Thanks for all the great advice! You guys rock! And Andy... I was eyeballing the Nikon D80, but I'm not sure if I can convince Jay to get me one (like he doesn't have an expensive hobby himself! (laugh) ). Unless I can guilt him into it for getting my camera stolen. It's going to drive me crazy not having a camera... and my Nikon CoolPix 2100 just isn't going to cut the mustard for me. There certainly is a lot of buzz circulating about the D80! I went to Circuit City and Best Buy and handled the Nikon and the Canon. The Nikon has a pretty bulky handgrip for my hands... but it fits Jay really well. Course, he's not the shutterbug in the family either so his opinion doesn't count! The Canon fit nicely. I have a rough time deciding as that little Nikon P&S that I have took some really awesome pics for what it was. Then I handled a Sony and got sad... but I think I definitely want to stick with either Nikon or Canon. I will definitely look into renting one... and playing with Nyles' Canon when I come over. And by the way, my zoas look AWESOME!!! I am so excited!

Okay, so if you've read my "angry" thread, you know I'm in the market for a new camera. Photography is my other obesession. I want to step up to digital SLR. The Sony H1 was a good in between camera for P&S to DSLR... and it served me well. (sad) CCR recommended the Canon Rebel... which I was considering. I'm also thinking about the Nikon D50 or possibly D70. What other camera bodies do you guys recommend or prefer? Also, what lenses should I be getting? Shoot, I wasn't ready to go DSLR yet so I have my research cut out for me! I know I need a general purpose lens, a macro lens and eventually one for distance. And flash... that's not built in either! So throw me some suggestions as I'm busily researching. I'm going down to Best Buy and looking at cameras, just for preliminary research. Not buying today! Gotta wait for my money from Jay's nasty store. I really do hope they come through and reimburse me/Jay for the theft.

Jay had the annual golf tournament through his store and Kiwanis and he decided that he wanted to take my camera. I fought him about this because I despise the company he works for and hate it when he uses my camera for their benefit. Even though I told him no, he took it anyways. And someone stole it!!! Apparently they stole a bunch of raffle prizes that was set aside for a "thank you" to the golf course for hosting the tournament. I am SO angry right now I can't even see straight! Jay said the store is going to pay for the camera, but I'm not going to hold my breath. So I guess now I'll be researching cameras again and deciding what to get. Maybe it's time to upgrade to a DSLR. Heck, maybe this was fates way of making this happen for me. I've been wanting one for a long time. Doesn't change the fact that I'm flaming pissed off though! (flame) To Jay's credit, he is beating himself up over it. Said that he'd get me a Nikon D50 even though he's complained in the past about the expense of DSLRs and having to buy the lenses and flash and such. Well, thanks for listening to me vent. No more awesome pics out of Stacy for a while, thanks to the jerk that stole my camera. (cussing)

Come up with some preliminary ideas and ask what everyone thinks. That's the best advice I can give you. Oh, and there is indeed such a thing as too much flow! Rely on the experience of others to advise you so you're not in the situation Jay is in... thinking that he's going to have to eventually do some modifications to his closed loop! DOH!

Another vote for drilling! I wish I would have drilled my 20g zoanthid garden. Try having two bulky powerheads in a nano! Not pretty. You'll be much happier if you drill for a closed loop.

Yeah, can you imagine what Jay would do on a bike? I imagine we'd be having new elections for president if that ever happened. :eek: He did say that they bicycle bucking him off cured him of ever wanting a motorcycle. Jay pulled this off on Sunday morning, riding his bicycle to work. He doesn't know what happened, just that he went sailing over the handlebars for no apparent reason. Apparently his coworkers are putting together a care package for him... training wheels and a helmet. My dad asked him if he needed to install a roll bar on his bike while he was taking him to the ER. And of course, I've been merciless with my teasing. Nothing is broken, although he took some chunks out of his goatee... so he looks like he has the mange. (laugh) Bonus... he's off work until after the BBQ. He screwed up his back and right hand! Oh, and I decided to start telling everyone that he was riding his Harley and swerved to miss a kitten. That sounds better than his bike bucked him off. So start giving him a hard time, everyone! (clap)
