  1. So you can pretty much say that everyone carries these wonderful products.
  2. No not Hair Algae just some sort of Turf Algae it should get eaten by a tang if you get one later.
  3. Have you ever tested the water that you get from the grocery store with a TDS meter? I have heard that a lot of those units are not maintained properly and the water that comes out is not pure. Really there are so many things that can cause cyano that it is hard to say what will work for you. Just change one thing at a time wait for a little while and then try something else.
  4. I do believe most of the tank raised fish are being raised in greenhouses so they get natural lighting.
  5. It is always a good idea to do a second treatment after about two weeks just to make sure you got all the little buggers. There is much less risk in using the treatment the second time because if there are any flatworms there won't be many.
  6. Personally I don't think Totoka rock is worth the extra money. I have gotten some and was not that impressed. My favorite has got to be Kalini Rock or Fiji Branch Rock. The Fiji Branch is not that porous but definately makes for nice aquascaping. The Kalini is very porous and has some amazing color and is just a little more expensive that the Regular Fiji Rock. Sarah actually the rock you got was Tonga Kalini, Fiji Boulder and Fiji Branch.
  7. Could be some sort of internal parasite that is causing him to remain skinny like that.
  8. Unfortunately the bottle of Coppersafe does tell you to add way to much. We run a level of .5 with no ill effects but even at 1 bad things happen.
  9. Happy Birthday. And now your both Old.(laugh)
  10. If I was running a fish only tank I wouldn't recommend the use of copper all the time but here is the reason why we started running copper. I have a local maintainence guy here who set up some quarantine tanks in his garage and for the last two years has been running copper in them and keeping the fish for at least 2 weeks before sending them on their way. In this time no tank that has gotten their fish exclusively from him has had ich. In the approximate year I have been running copper in my system I have not had one fish with ich. The problem with not running some type of medication in your tank when you are quarantining your fish is that a parasite can still come in on the fish even if their immune system is good enough to fight off the parasite it can still make it into the main tank and once in the main tank any fish that has a weakened immune system can get ich. You should also quarantine any inverts in a tank for a month before being placed into the tank. Invertebrates can carry parasites into your system also. Without a fish host parasites have a maximum lifespan of about 30 days. As far as angels in copper I had heard the same thing and I can say if the copper levels get above the levels that I run it is true. The use of copper is all about running a fine line between killing the parasites and killing everything. There are some fish such as boxfish and cowfish that will not take copper. As far as the levels we run it is .5 either ppm or ppt I can't remember which level the test kit reads. It is really a very low dosage but has been very effective. I personally was very against running meds in a tank full time but after seeing the results and then trying it I will never do it any other way until something better comes along.
  11. Just buy the fish from a store that uses copper to quarantine. Between 2 and 3 weeks is usually safe but a month is safer.
  12. Well if you make it down to Springfield we have 4 boxes in stock. We have pretty much quit taking corals from individuals and if we do take anything in we dose it with the Flatworm exit just to be on the safe side.
  13. Here it is http://www.reed-mariculture.com/reefnutrition/
  14. Unfortunately a lot of times they will die once the parasites become visible. The parasites have already been working over there gills while the parasites were still small. The other thing to keep in mind is that the parasites have about a 30 day lifecycle in your aquarium so if you want to prevent the next fish from getting it you will need to keep your aquarium free of fish for that long. For what it is worth you might set up another small tank to quarantine your new fish in before adding them to the tank because most stores don't do anything to prevent parasites from accumulating in their tanks. The other thing is that Aquarium Systems just came out with a nice new medication called Lifeguard that is an antiparasite, antibacterial med. The only thing with using this med is that it destroys at least most if not all of your beneficial bacteria so you have to keep an eye on your levels.
  15. I would think that you would have to worry about adding both Calcium Chloride and Magnesium Chloride to your tank for an extended period of time. You would likely cause an imbalance between your chlorides and your sulfates. Just my two cents.
  16. That is one that is in my tank. Unfortunately they don't come in like that very often. I am waiting for it to open up all the way and then I am going to frag it up. I am working on training this supplier so I can get more cool stuff like that all the time.
  17. What about this one? Sorry I couldn't figure out how to put a large one in the post.
  18. That looks like a dot on the glass or something. Not saying that it isn't photoshopped but I think he played with the color balance more than anything. Look how bright the background is and what about the Red color behind the coral.
  19. The bad part for the Pac 10 is that they didn't get respect before this and now the big schools are not going to want to come to play. Nobody outside of this state is going to give Oregon any credit for the win. If Oregon does somehow make it to a good bowl game this year this will be talked about over and over again. It is really a lose lose for both teams because those referees were terrible. I didn't get to see the beginning of the game just have been able to catch the end replayed over and over again so I don't know about all the terrible calls but I have never seen worse calls than the end of that game and it personally calls into doubt the whole replay system. If you can't see obvious errors on the part of the on field guys on the replay then what is the point of looking at the tape at all. I guess that is the part that really irritates me is that if you are not going to put in place a system that works why have it at all.
  20. I just can't figure out why they started the replay if they can't see obvious calls like that. Oklahoma recovered the onside kick even after the Oregon player touched it and they still called the possesion for Oregon. All I have to say is Nike has some deep pockets. Sure Oklahoma should have put the ball in the end zone on one of those two opportunities but Oklahoma had Oregons number almost the whole game. When we talk about whining we have to remember last years bowl game where Oregon was outraged that they didn't get a better bowl game and they couldn't even win the one that they were put in. Sure Oregon made a couple of plays at the end of the game but the officials won the game for them. All in all Oregon was out played. Oklahoma made one mistake all game and that was the blocked field goal that never should have been needed in the first place.
  21. I actually can't remember the name of the one you are talking about Jay but it is actually one stop north of Stonefield. It has the river down there that you can cross over and go out on the point and around the bend on the right or on the left is a bunch of rocks with tons of tidepools.
  22. Has anyone besides me tried the new Red Sea Coral Pro? The readings we get are 450 calcium 1320 magnesium and 10 dkh.
  23. I thought about dumping it but it is starting to catch on I think just because it is cheap more than anything. Pretty soon I am going to have to call the place Salt. I currently have Red Sea (old mix), Red Sea Coral Pro (the good stuff), Oceanpure, and Instant Ocean in buckets. Once I get done with this awful move I am going to pull alot of the shelving and reorganize it so that I can keep carrying a variety. It is going to get a little more crowded in there tomorrow I have all the stuff that I ordered from my trade show coming. You could say I went a little overboard.
  24. I know of a store in another state that would sell it then blame its death on the customer and sell them a new one. Kinda like green goniporas.
