  1. You Oregon fans are just going to have to face up to the fact that your team sucks. Can't catch can't hit fieldgoals. They are very good at turning the ball over however.
  2. I have 60 hour heat packs that would run $2.25 each.
  3. Wow what a progression. I mean about Mikes name actually being involved with the tank.(laugh) Nice clams by the way.
  4. Ohh that great mythical beast "A good cat" ohh if there was only such a beast.(laugh)
  5. Most of the snails I recieve are sent dry and then I just dump them in the tanks after a little rinse to get the crud off. I would say that there is something out of wack in your tank. What type of Salt are you using? I had one customer one time that couldn't keep anything alive in the tank water tested just fine. She got a little sand out of someone elses tank and it fixed everything. Weirdest thing I have ever seen. Are there any other invertebrates in there besides the snails? What type of snails have you tried to add to the tank?
  6. The big problem with those Seachem numbers is that they aren't balanced. If you have high Calcium and High Magnesium it should have high kH also. The other thing to keep in mind is that Seachem uses elevated levels of Borate to boost the pH which will cause the kH readings to be off.
  7. There are small amounts of copper found in Seawater also so it would depend on what level of copper you are experiencing. I would put a polyfilter in and see if it turns blue. The blue color is an indication that it is absorbing copper.
  8. I was wondering if you tested the Crystal Sea Marine Mix? The last time I tested a salt made by that company it tested at almost half of sea water levels in Calcium, Carbonate and Magnesium. It was horrible to say the least. If you are looking for a cheap salt we sell Oceanpure 150 gallon buckets for $35 to members. Magnesium chloride would still not be balanced. The key is that if you dose Calcium Chloride you want to dose Magnesium Sulfate. That is why if you look at the Seachem additives for Magnesium they are Magnesium Sulfate because their calcium supplements are calcium chloride. It is designed so that you do not cause an ionic imbalance in your aquarium.
  9. The stuff doesn't grow that fast and I have only distributed it to 2 people in town. It is just like most macro algaes so if you don't keep it in check it will grow but tangs love the stuff so it could easily be eliminated from the tank. Has that digital camera of yours come in yet I would love to see some pictures of this in your friends tank.
  10. Unfortunately you are probably experiencing secondary bacterial infections as a result of the primary parasitic infection. I have never seen any problems from dosing the Ich Attack but have not seen it do much good in the way of treating the parasites also. The problem is that usually by the time that you can see the parasites the damage has already been done. These parasites start by attacking any soft tissue they can find like the gills and the eyes. Sometimes the damage done by the time the parasites are mature enough to see is to severe for the animal to recover even if giving proper treatment. Realistically you need much stronger meds than you can administer in your reef tank. I personally would go with copper and a good multi ingredient antibiotic that way you don't have to play around with finding the right antibiotic for the particular bacteria.
  11. The only difference in packaging between Oceanpure and Oceanpure Pro is a little sticker on the side that says "Pro". I have one of the Pro buckets in at the shop. As far Magnesium Sulfate causing Ionic inbalance. It can but so can Magnesium Chloride so you have to be careful with the additives you are using in your tank. I would say that if you are using Calcium Chloride in your tank you would want to use Magnesium Sulfate as the additive. That way you are balancing the chlorides and sulfates in your aquarium.
  12. While I am not really local I do stock the Seachem normally. I am out right at this particular time but will have more in on Tuesday.
  13. Yeah only they should take it to the next step and make it available online. That way when someone registers to vote they get a special code that they have to put in and a pin number and then they can log on and vote. This would save the State probably hundreds of thousands of dollars.
  14. I have heard good things about the 10k's. I chose to go with the 14k's because I was worried the 10k's would be too yellow like the ushio 10k's I had but the 14k's are too blue for me. I will have to go with the 10k's next time.
  15. I believe what he is referring to is Red Flatworms. I would just get some flatworm exit and take care of the little buggers rather than take a chance. I would almost guarantee that if you are seeing them on the glass there are more in the tank that you are not seeing.
  16. Or what about the impending shift in the earths magnetic field? Climatologists study a very specific field and get paid by the people that supply them funding to find out certain things. Even if they don't want to be biased if they don't come up with the answers that the people that are supplying them with the funding want the money goes away. The earth is an ever adapting place and it will change to adapt to the changes in climate. We have not been on the earth long enough to know what the heck is going on.
  17. The average price on these things will probably be about $750. I know ouch. I told my supplier that they would probably be a little cost prohibitive for most people. It will definately be a hard sell. We will probably be special ordering them for people for about $600. Hopefully the price estimates will come down a little once my wholesaler actually recieves them. I will let everyone know.
  18. Has anyone heard about the new Red Sea Cube nano tanks yet. I just saw some info on them today and it looks like it is going to be a pretty sweet setup. The only draw back is going to be the price. They have a nice skimmer built into the back of the thing. They are using t5 lighting in it with a built in timer. It actually has a heater built in also. Basically it is a more well thought out version of the nano tanks that are on the market right now. They even thought to put a power panel in the unit so you just have to plug in one plug I believe.
  19. I have used a bunch of different salts. I started with coralife when I first opened the shop, then switched to Kent well before the change in the formula. From Kent I switched to Oceanic which I had really bad results from. In fact between the tank maintainence person that I do a lot of business and myself we went through a pallet of it and in that time most of the tanks we used it in developed Hair Algae and had pretty signifigant invert die off. I know of people that have had good results from Oceanic but most of those started with Oceanic in the first place. The people that have switched on an established tank that I have known have had problems. After my Oceanic fiasco I switched back to Kent for awhile and then when they choose not to renew their contract with Aquarium Systems to make the base for their salt I decided that they would probably screw it up so I switched to regular Red Sea Salt and then when the Red Sea Coral Pro came out I switched to that. So far with all of the salts we have tested the Red Sea Coral Pro had the most balanced numbers that were a little on the high side so that it is good for water changes.
  20. I have been using the Coral Pro for about 6-8 months now. I have pretty much been using it since it came out earlier this year. I liked the regular Red Sea salt but it was always low in almost everything so this has been a great. I have been getting better polyp extension and color out of the acros since using it.
  21. Miles, I don't stock the Oceanic but I can get it I will PM you a price tomorrow once I talk to my salesperson to see what kind of price I can get on it. I can get it in as soon as Friday if you need some. If you want you can PM me your number and I can call you once I get the price so I can make sure and get it in this week.
  22. Red Sea Coral Pro 1350 Mag, 450 calcium, 12 dkh. Have had great success with this salt.
  23. I thought this was the support group. Ohh I have been in the wrong forum the whole time.(laugh)
  24. You know it is really bad when you start a business to get the tanks out of your garage and then end up setting up more tanks in your garage.
  25. You know your addicted to reefkeeping when you start stalking your LFS owners. Huh Stacy(laugh)
