Fish recommendations

I have a 55 gal mixed reef/fish/ live rock tank. What fish and invertebrates  would y’all recommend for cleaning and visual stimulation? And how many. I currently have 1 blue chromis, 3 assorted damsels, 3 clowns, 1 Haitian, 1 long tip and 1 carpet anemone. Also in process of rehoming  humu Picasso trigger.

Tangs/rabbitfish/foxface - three different genus.   You've been fighting algae, you need fish as part of your cleanup crew.  I never run a tank without a number of them.  And for different purposes.  Personally, I always make sure to have at least one bristletooth tang, any species.    Good "Scrapers."

I'd run any of these:

  • bristletooth (Kole, Tomini, Chevron, ...)
  • zebrasoma tang (Yellow, Scopas, Purple, ...)
  • Blue tang
  • Rabbitfish ( I like these)
  • Foxface (only had once)

  • Thanks 1

Not sure how they would do in my tank. Have only an inch of sand in the front 1/4 of tank. Behind rock is no sand. And not familiar with the starfishes

Tuxedo urchin is a good choice.  Bare bottom or sand.   Get one.

(I only consider tuxedo urchins.  the rest are too spikey and too bull dozer-ish for my taste.)

I got these pair of gobies and can’t remember what they are. I googled and see some like them but not close enough to say for sure. Anyone know what they are? I got them from woody’s seahorse and love them

Congrats on getting these two cool gobies.  A little googling, and looks like you got Valenciennea helsdingenii.

  • Valenciennea helsdingenii is a species of goby from the Indo-Pacific. It is commonly known as the twostripe goby, black-lined sleeper goby, or railway sleeper goby.

Ty, they really are cool to watch suck up and then drop sand as they swim around
