drock59
Just wondering what skimmer you would buy for a 135g tank that needs to be heavily skimmed?
H20cooled
It would depend on how much $$$ you want to spend, but if I was looking for something for a reasonable amount I would go for one of the ATI Bubblemaster skimmers. Lower power usage and heavy skimming. Otherwise a Bubble King Mini would kick butt.
reefgeek84
I would highly recommend the ATI bubble master... I will try to get some pics for you, like I promised...
drock59
I was just about to revive that thread. I take it you are pleased with your purchase? How about some links to specific skimmers?
reefgeek84
I was just about to revive that thread. I take it you are pleased with your purchase? How about some links to specific skimmers? I am pleased with my purchase...I mean I have never had a euro-reef, deltech (well standard deltech), ASM...but I am pleased with the bubble master and would recommend it to anyone...I can tell you that my hang on back deltec I had skimmed very well, so I am willing to be that there standard type of skimmers would be a very good choice as well... http://www.reefgeek.com/filtration/Protein_Skimmers/ATI_Bubble_Master/Bubble_Master_200_Protein_Skimmer_by_ATI that is the one I have... Guest Mbeef61
http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=1015 this is the one i have...skimms awesome...have it on my heavily stocked 100 gallon...not sure about its power consumption ratio but i do know i run a kilowatt of lights so i wasnt too worried about a couple 65 watt pumps...i run approx 150 gph through it. uhuru
A DAS EX2 would handle the job really well and it's economically priced for being a Deltec clone.
drock59
Im looking to go a different route than the octopus skimmer.

blown65
I dont know those other skimmers, but I really like my EuroReef. Plus you can find them pretty easily used for good prices. (not finicky to get going either.)
Michael7979
Dan I have been looking around myself have you checked out........ H&S skimmers? A little spendy. I'm leaning toward PCI RPS 3000- because they are close, ASM G4X- euro-reef knockoff and cheaper, still looking at the Bubble Master series and Octopus series too. drock59
Mike, I have been looking for a while now. HandS is too spendy for my liking. I have had a Euro Reef before and loved it, so i will certainly be looking in that direction. Seems like the recirc models are ridiculously expensive. I am also investigating the bubblemaster but what has really piqued my interest is this little bad boy: http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SQ-OCT-PK200&Category_Code=reefflo That would work for a long period of tank upgrades. The bubbleking has my interest but again the price seems a bit high. People do rave about them though. Ive owned an ASM and a PCI RPS with mixed reviews on each. Neither is a bad skimmer, but I guess I am looking for a REALLY great skimmer. Something I dont have to fuss with.
Michael7979
That Reefflo ain't cheap! But yeah I saw that too. Dosen't someone around here run an Orca? You can get the Deltec APF600 (+/-250g) for $100 more. Same with a Euro-Reef Rc250 (+/- 250g) for $200 more. But if you look around you might find them cheaper then I did on a small search. Was looking for specs not prices, so much.

Very impressive...I do think that becketts skim better then others, but they are more of a hassle, at least my experience...but those pics are a good argument for that skimmer... Randy-S
Its not a beckett its a re-circ skimmer that uses a dart needlewheel pump
reefgeek84
Its not a beckett its a re-circ skimmer that uses a dart needlewheel pump I see...Very impressive...Those are suppose to be a very reasonable priced skimmer as well...If you have the room, that looks like a good skimmer to go with...Will eat up some wattage, but not much... R-3
Those REEFLO's are awesome. I havent heard a bad thing yet about them. Would love to setup a tank that could use one! Later Ryan
reefgeek84
I did not realize the price of those skimmers!!! even with out the pump they are over 1,000.00 bucks...that might be a bit overkill for his tank...I would really consider a bubble master... reefhut
I bought the first Reef flow 250 that was avalible, and still havent got my tank up and running to post a review on it yet. But I must say, with all the feedback on this skimmer, I wouldn't pass this one up. IT'S A BEAST !!!!!
