Jmanrow's 46 Gallon Bowfront

Here are a few pics of my recently overhauled 46 gallon bowfront. Thanks Kevin (pledosophy) for the help with the rock/glass cleaning and complete water change... and for those great the frags too! I'd also like to thank Jose (Hozer21) for the German Blue Digitata and assorted frags. I was also given some nice zoanthids at the September meeting. The majority of the tank restocking began around 11/15/14, although the rock, sand, and a few gorgonians have been in the tank about 4 years. This gave me a chance to visit and make a few purchases from Upscales, Cuttle Fish and Corals... both in Portland, and Ocean in a Box in Vancouver. All great stores! New T5 tubes have been added, although I may be going with LEDs soon. Everything seems to be doing great, in spite of my repositioning things the last two weeks!

I'm not sure what common name that one morph of Caulastrea is going by. I have seen them online as "Blue Ice", and the bright green one with names like "neon green" and "Kryptonite." That's the problem with common names, they can be called whatever name fits!

I keep hearing the term old school! (hey, I've only been keeping marine tanks since the late 1960s! lol) I haven't done anything with the club since 2010, and nothing much with aquariums until last month, in the last year and a half. I see quite a progression toward rimless tanks, LED lighting and controllers. I'm reading up online on some of the newest tech, and looking forward to regular meetings and getting to know people in the club.

It's a mixed tank now with a few frags of SPS and some nice LPS. I would really like to get an assortment of zoas and maybe a few more chalices for some color in the tank other than greens! It will happen. Does anyone know of a local source of Maxi Mini Carpet Anemones, aka Pizza Anemones (Cryptodendrum adhaesivum)? I'm retired now, so I have lots of time. There will always be new things to learn about reefkeeping and home propagation of fish and inverts. It wasn't that long ago when we were getting people interested in fragging corals and talking about the the day when we would be seeing captive-raised corals in the local fish stores! One thing I would like to know more about is the various types of LED lighting.

New powerhead placement. No Gyre Generator yet, but I reconfigured the water flow in my tank today. Also pictured is the Orange Lobophyllia frag that I got in the raffle at Scott Fellman's presentation Saturday!    OrangeLobo_zpsea2741f7.jpg
