TheClark
Ran across something cool, tried it, sharing.... We made the mistake around here of putting water in the tank before the stands were finished. As cool as all the plumbing and automation is to me, it is not so cool to non reefers and distracts from the display. My son and I built this in about an our today for his frag tank. Stand Before: Stand After: Basically this is a window screen using the screen kits at Lowes or Home Depot. In addition, magnets are glued onto the stand and onto the window screen itself. This makes the stand more attractive, breathable, and easy to access for maintenance. Ah, important note. You want to use the sun blocking screen, not the normal screen. The sunblocking is much darker. There is probably no reason you couldn't use any material as well.

I could never get the kids to get excited about the hobby at all. :( I had magnets and panels on my old tank. Made maintenance really easy! Thank you he did a nice job and the best part is, that is his tank. I will probably use these panels on the big frag tank in the office too, now that I have cheap labor to recruit
kireek
Great idea! I could use something like this to keep my toddler's bouncy balls out of my sump.It may even help keep my corris wrasse in the sump. A screen would be also useful to block out lighting from neighboring tanks when taking photos.

Whatever it takes to keep the little ones away from the sump and focused on the tank Glad that it might be helpful. Take pics if you build some. I am going to try them on the bigger frag tank, should do the job there too and I store a bunch of distracting items under it.
