my tank is being stocked from my 25 gallon with 9 month cycled rock all I am pretty much doing water chemistry wise is like a water change half the water came from the 25 so its fine especially with the live rock

Your tank will still have a cycle, i wouldn't suggest sps for awhile still.

+1 on a small cycle, my 40 had one with all the water from a 29, I'm assuming your fling a sump, that's more water volume if so, also it's just much safer to let it do it's thing for a few months to see how it's going to respond to the rock, bio load, etc. But to each their own. I just do it safe, tends to help with headaches down the road.

the mini cycle isnt die off though if you make your tank bigger adding exciting water to a new tank with new rock and yes I have a sump with an extra 20lbs or so all thats going to happen is your BB (beneficial bacteria) is going to colonize on the new rock. and that happens only with in weeks
