Lowman
I just got a 30 gallon system, thanks Doug, and am currently cycling it. I put a semi deep multi size sand bed in it thinking I would maybe put a blue spot jawfish in it. Or gobies/pistol shrimp, or a cool mantis. But you tell my what you think I should do with it........... My lighting will be a 24" Maristar with 250 watt bulb. I am also going to do highend sps in the tank. Emerald525
Well if you're going to do high end sps don't get a mantis. They love to burrow and dig and would likely bury some of your prized corals.
impur
Jawfish for sure. They are awesome!
Emerald525
Put up a poll Lowman! Put up a poll! I agree jawfish are cool but a gobie shrimp pair would also be cool.
Lowman
I was also thinking of a Wartskin angler, but that would limit my livestock
Lowman
Just for the PQ I added a poll................
Emerald525
Yeah I love polls!(rock2)(rock2)(clap)
J.R
I love the blue dot. Just make sure you cover the tank... I bought and lost 2 of the little guys when I had my 120. Spendy lesson to learn.
fpd4308
I, of course, vote for the angler
JasonH
I' date=' of course, vote for the angler[/quote'] +1 If you're going high end SPS in a 30 gal tank, you don't a lot of fish anyway - so you can avoid water quality issues. So just having 1 angler would be awesome. I guess you couldn't have any cool shrimp, either. But a wartskin would be super cool.
rgrcrain
That little angler at OIAB is freakin sweet! I'm afraid he would get lost in my tank or I would buy him.
Lowman
If it came out of a certain local wholesaler's system, I wouldn't get it. I am either doing an angler or the blue spot. Maybe both LOL......
Michael7979
I'm voting for goby/pistol pair. Then add a Hectors goby and many a couple of sexy shrimp. Not alot of bio-load but should get some cool creatures that you could appreciate.
R-3
Heres my choices- 1-Angler 2-Blue Spot Jawfish 3-Pistol Shrimp Goby All of them would be sweet choices though
Emerald525
How about an achilles tang and a carpet anemone (whistle)
kingtrident
I voted for a blue spot cuz I want one or 2 when the time comes. I've seen a yellow angler in action with clownfish, neat to see his lil baiter tossing around just waiting for a clown to come close enough. Obijuan
I voted for the jawfish. But then again, you could always do what I've been pondering: Put a jawfish in the main tank, and set up a second Mantis tank :P
jgf86123
Bob, I voted for the angler, but, if you tie the tank into your main system, you could do a pair of Hector's, a pair of Rainford's, and possibly a yellow assessor and have lot's of colorful active small fish. Gill
I was also thinking of a Wartskin angler' date=' but that would limit my livestock[/quote'] True, but with only 30 gallons you are already limited. I say go for the angler!!!
ShaunMonahan
I was also thinking of a Wartskin angler' date=' but that would limit my livestock[/quote'] +1, but it won't mess with your prized sps... I would also consider the flamboyant cuttlefish as they stay small and are insanely cool and colorful
Lowman
I guess I will do a combination. I want a wartskin angler and a jawfish. We will see how they get along.
reefnjunkie
I guess I will do a combination. I want a wartskin angler and a jawfish. We will see how they get along. LOL-thats funny, wont the angler eat the blue spot? I thought anglers were a "meat-a-saurous"
Randy-S
Blue spot. Jaw for the bottom and spotted files for the top!
Mr S
You need to either get a ginormous blue spot or a really small angler. I think it will eventually end up as a meal. You might as well give me the blue spot and just come visit it!!! LOL
