mwheeler
So I have had a conch in my tank since I set up the 50 gallon. Just noticed about 40 zoa polyps that were there yesterday were not there today.(flame) So I just got done checking out my tank since the lights have been off for a while and what do I find but a snail eating my zoa's. I am thinking that it ran out of algae to eat in my tank. All the small snails are doing fine but I guess he decided that climbing the glass was to much work to get some food when I had all those tasty zoa's sitting down on his level. At least he only got two cheap groups of zoa's. But it still sucks loosing them.
jgf86123
Do you ahve a pic of the snail man? The only snails I know of that eat zoas are sundials, and if you've got one, you more than likely have more, an those suckers are nasty to say the least. WAVES
Man you had me all excited, I was ready to pay top dollar for a zoa eating conch. If anyone has sundials Ill take em, i have a couple polyps here and there that need to be eatten before they take over the world.
rubberduck9
Yup Tiger cowrie. I would also have a conversation with whoever you got it from and tell them to do alittle research before selling something.
Mandinga
Are cash cowries the same? I am pretty sure that's what I got, and it was sold to me as reef safe...i watched him park on top of zoa colonies...I cant be 100% sure he was eating them, but certain colonies vanished. Like 10 polyps one week, zero the next.
dsoz
I got rid of two tiger cowrie snails that I had because I caught one eating corals. I don't remember if they were zoas or not... dsoz
Emerald525
Yes I heard Cowries will eat corals. I have two tiger conchs in my reef and the worse they do is occassionally knock over a coral but they are so cool!

I kept wanted to offer them up to someone that would want to wipe out zoas, but they starved before I got around to it:( I got a ton of empty shells but I would guess any eggs or whatnot have been gone for some time, if they were ever there.
