LC Scott
So I've grown dissatisfied with the t5's. So I'm going to try out Mh for a while. Updates and some pics later this week.
LC Scott
How High To Mount Halide? I'm wondering just how high I need to mount my halide. I'll be installing a 250w Radium with a galaxy switchable ballast and a Lumen max elite reflector over a 40b.
Smann
12" is pretty common, most hoods are about that maybe a little higher
LC Scott
If I cut a hole in the top of my canopy and set the light there it would be at 12 inchs, otherwise the lamp will only be 6 or 8 inchs above the water.
LC Scott
Well after losing most of my sps I pulled the sand bed and put in the 250w radium. My tank has been having nitrite issues and most of my sps have rtn'ed When we move the tank last time we didn't rinse the sand out. :(
Kimberlee
Posting pics for Scott Last time he was here he for got his camera....so here are the pics. This tank is making a wicked come back. Should be back on the right track soon. (my 2 cents)
Derbird
Beautiful colors on those corals (drooler) Why do you have the egg crate on the bottom? I don't think I have ever seen that before.
LC Scott
I put that in to keep the rock in place under the sand, I was going to replace the sand right away but have put that off for a few weeks.
LC Scott
Putting the MH on top of the canopy gave me so much more room to work in the tank.
fredknack
I have a question about your overflow system. Are you happy with it? I hear that it is a very quiet system. I am thinking about doing this in my tank. What has your experience been?
LC Scott
I love it but I made one or two mistakes putting it together. I haven't put up any pics of the corrections yet, even then it was dead silent. You could only hear the skimmer pump, even that just barely. fredknack
Thanks for the review. Yea I think PVC and mistakes go together way to often.

LC Scott
Ok so I think the tank has finally stabilized and the die off has stopped.(sad) After a couple of weeks of small water changes I bit the bullet and we did four large changes 30ish gallons each. Now the nitrates are down to roughly 15 (ppm) I thought about listing eveything I lost but I think it would be faster just to list the things that I still have. pom pom Xenia Dendros These did really well. Purple with green rim plating Monte Hard to see in this photo but it has survived so far. Pink plating Monte Coming back from the dead. Red and Green war coral Thought it was dead. Maybe I should rename it Zombie War Coral.(whistle) Unknown (Flavia)? Color is coming back. I found a way to kill off GSP. The Green BTA split three times during this but seems ok so far. Bam Bams on the rack to the left From left to Right. Candy Apples, Eagle eyes and Purple Death Palys. Things I want back. Westside Tri-color I'm going to have to ad to this later. LC Scott
So the good news...... I still have some of the Sps and Lps left. When I saw what was happening and wasn't countering fast enough I moved some of the corals out of the tank into Kimberlee's Tank. So I saved. Oregon Blue Tort from Westside Elephant skin Coral Green Micromussa coral I think there are two or three more? (scratch) ORA Green Birdsnest

LC Scott
So I picked up a Filefish today at TPA. He seems to be eating the dammed apitsia, that's a good thing cus my tank almost at the point of being a biotope. (rock2)
LC Scott
He also blends in with the rocks rather well.
