What I can figure in my head is that if I continue to refresh I will finally "catch" a packet and the page will load, am I kinda understanding? Anything else I can do? Yes that packet loss is exactly what's causing your 'slowness'. Refreshing actually might make the issue worse because it puts a heavier load on the site to respond to multiple requests from a single user. It seems to run just fine and dandy anytime of the day or night. Never slow, never misses a beat. Of course I'm running a new iMac with Safari so that could be the answer right there. I'm not too hip on the new vbulletin software and new look of the site however, but that's another thread.

414driver
The crux of the matter is this.....cruising and participating in this forum used to be fun...it's now an aggravation. Just like now...I wanted to read this thread. After spending 3 times as long loading the website amd logging in(aggravation) I had to look at the unfamiliar background template (aggravation)...attempt to read the "GREEN" font color(big aggravation)...I attempted to follow this thread. Every other page loaded in microseconds....every other page took forever. I dislike aggravations...the hobby itself gives me plenty.....as a result I've only accessed this site 3 times since the changeover....before the changeover it was 3-4 times a day. Any like minded folks out there?????????????????

The pages load almost instantly. I have Comcast broadband, using a Comcast supplied modem and wireless router. Although I never do on my windoze work peecees, maybe you IE users could empty the history and cache files and see if this helps any. I wanted to make sure you were not using a cable modem that had a firewall built-in (doesn't look like it) and then using a wireless router with a firewall (pretty sure yours does - on the bottom does the label say WRT54G?) which can cause issues. If your wireless router has a firewall built-in then your firewall on your laptop is not needed - double firewalls does not double your protection it only doubles the number of points were you need a correct configuration. I don't run any firewall on my home computers except for my main router connected to my cable modem. If you are connecting to a public WiFi spot then, yes, turning on the firewall is a good idea. jackaninny
it has a WRT54GS on it... By default it has a firewall turned on and running so unless you've disabled that manually you are safe to turn the firewall on your laptop off.
