my 75 gallon cube tank build

This is my 75gallon Cube that I am building to replace my nanos. This is my final tank so I am trying to take my time and do everything now before its setup and running. I built the stand, hood and added everything else. I bought the tank used in Eugene and after a wet sanding and good buffing it looks great. Thanks to Matt, Vinh and Ter for the help keeping the cost down on my equipment. I will add more photos as I get closer to finnishing it. The other pictures are of my nano's. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on things to add or change. In the next few weeks I am going to be looking for a few good size peices of base rock so let me know if you have any to sell.

I hope the link to the photos works.

Not sure. I am going to run a 175watt and 250 watt. The tank is 27"X27"X24" tall. Do you think thats to much wattage for this size tank? Good for LPS and SPS?

That should be plenty. We have 2 175W MH on our 150 Reef and the corals do fine. I have never had any problems with any of them getting bleached out.

Update on the 75 cube

Well I got the tank on the stand with the canopy and lights working. The lighting is awsome, it looks great with the 175 watt on but then when I fire up the 250 with the 175 and wow!! This is my first tank with MH's and thanks to electronic ballast's the noise and heat are gone. If the pictures dont work out I will have to beg Chewie for some help. After setting it up in the spot that I had planned it just didnt look right so I have found a new home for it

thats in a location above my basement. I am starting to think about running all of my filtration in the basement and pump the water back up to the main level of my home were the tank is located. Does anyone have any thoughts on doing this? Good or bad? Its about 10' of head to return to the tank or less if I build a taller shelf to set everything on. Any one that needs a stand or canopy built let me know I like to barter.

Nice stand and canopy!

Thats an interesting light setup to. What kelvin of bulb are the 175 and 250? Also remember you need to shield the DE bulb to block out the UV so that ya dont fry your corals.

they are 20k for the 250w coralife HQI but not sure about the 175 its more on the blue side of the spectrum and what do you recomend for shielding?

Just a piece of glass. Doesnt need to be real thick at all either. Not sure how you would mount it though. Contact Wannareef (Charles) on this forum. He built something similar to this.

I dont think I will need a chiller if I put everything filter wise in my basement, it is allways very cool down there even when its in the 100's out side but I might have to had a second heater but thats cheaper than a chiller. Thanks everyone for the help and kind words. Its great to share in a hobby with so many friends and soon to be friends.
