  1. I am pleased to announce that I have been asked to host March meeting!!! We have decided on March 16th 11:30. This meeting will include a oyster larvae hatchery tour and lunch at my house. We will meet 11:30 at Whiskey Creek Hatchery-This is the main oyster larvae cultivation facility on the Pacific coast. This hatchery provides Larvae to oyster farmers from Washington all the way down to Mexico. More about Whiskey Creek to follow. After a quick tour of Whiskey Creek we will meet at my house for lunch /raffle and conversation. I will provide lunch courtesy of our Hawaii Truck and Tillamook creamery. *I live in Tillamook Oregon. 😜
  2. Great to meet you! I hope to see you again soon.
  3. I use All for reef. I like it. I don’t have precipitation, and it is much nicer on my hose & pumps than kalc. I use powder and do mix it a little weak for calculating/pump reasons. it is quit good at increasing both ca+ and alk. no potassium
  4. My tank is finally coming into it’s own. Its looking good!!!
  5. I have 1 in 180. He’s hippo and great tang no aggression but my other tang is aggressive so this one needs a new home. 60$ Hes big and healthy how big is your frag tank ?
  6. No need to worry about toxicity when using such low doses. I’ve read that In reef tanks we like sub therapeutic doses, just to weaken rather than kill the bacteria. We could dive deep into dosing…. I really like your comment about dips. I do much larger doses as dips instead of in tank treatment. I had brown jelly in torches, not any more. I remove and treat whenever my torches don’t look 5 ⭐️. I had no idea Gonis get BJD!!! Where do you get oxalinic acid?
  7. This is a really low dose. In humans (we are 70% water) we do 500mg twice daily. You are not overdosing.
  8. I feel lucky. Lost power for 4 hrs and have battery backup for ~ 72 hours for circulation (echotech battery backup). I also have a small generator to keep heaters on. It works well. Unfortunately I had a pump issue/overflow that led to salinity falling to 1.022. I corrected it over 12 hours (fast down so fast up). My dosers kept dosing and my corals weren’t growing so my alk went to 12.5 over the following 3 days…. I normally check alkalinity daily, but with power outages, freezing rain, pump failure, and fixing salinity I just didn’t check alk. My alk is normally so stable I wasn’t worried…. But alk spike and salinity drop is what stressed things out. (things being me, corals and fish are fine) its funny how one problem often leads to another.
  9. I really enjoyed the grow out. Any suggestions for another? I know it’s work…I can help with organizing.
  10. Haha I do have a snorkel. I’m short and I need my whole head in when I’m working. I love topics like “ don’t put your hands in”. I’m always wondering: what about hair and shoulders 🤪 I get really wet.
  11. Ok I will donate. I can bring to you tomorrow. My goniastea is alive…. this sounds super cool!!!!
  12. I am looking for a large green slimmer or similar Please send photo and guesstimate of size and price. I’m tired of waiting for things to grow. 😜

  14. You can post any pictures you have and I’m going to get better photos when I catch it with full lights in.
  15. Started Fall 2020 Ive always had tanks. Fresh water, live rock with brittle star, lion fish only but nothing fancy. I knew I didn’t want to give myself the option of giving up, so I went all in with my first mixed reef tank. I’ve spent the last two years dreaming of the day it would be worth posting a tank thread. Im not there yet, but decided to post anyway. Details: 120” x 30” x 30” Flow: 2MP60s one wave maker one tunze 960 Light: 5 Kessil 360x 4 reef brights Sump: details to follow
