  1. I will be running it on a reef-pi for now. I actually have a reef-pi on each one of my tanks. They provide excellent monitoring and control. Eventually I would like to get an Apex for this tank, mostly for the automated testing. I am keeping an eye on the classfieds for one.
  2. Finished my plumbing today. Leak test tomorrow after work.
  3. Looks mostly. I decided to go all out on this tank and the blue and white matches my sump. The blue is schedule 40 so it has thinner walls I think. It's way more expensive though. $13 for just under 4 feet for the blue while the white is $3 for 5 feet.
  4. Thanks for the input! 1. I put a valve on that side because some of the plumbing threads I read recommend it to balance the two outputs. Since one side is closer to the pump than the other, water will flow faster on that side. That being said, in most of those threads the return pump was all the way to one side so there was a large travel distance. However mine is more in the middle so there is only about a 6" difference. 2. This is only a mock up, all the white pvc pipe will be replaced with blue and I hadn't installed that union yet. That is what the blue tape marks. Here is a more recent shot where I started cutting and gluing in the 1" blue pvc. One thing i have realized is I didn't order enough 3/4" blue pvc and of course BRS is out now. This has me rethinking my return plumbing. I am thinking about switching to 1" on the returns and necking it down at the bulkheads.
  5. Got the tank up on the stand and mocked up the plumbing. Does this look ok? Got plenty of unions!
  6. Wow thanks! I am honored that you would drive down here to help.
  7. I am wondering if maybe a couple 3 people could help me lift my tank up onto the stand? Shouldn’t take more than 5 - 10 minutes top. I am in East Salem and would really appreciate it. thanks!
  8. I got the stand put together. Mine has a door on the right and left sides. Found out today that this is a new stand that IM hasn’t even announced yet and is a $250 upgrade. Guess I got lucky.
  9. I have to admit, I did not open the crate in-front of the driver. Someone from Innovative Marine (I believe it was Paul) called me after it shipped. He said if there was no outside damage, it was up to me if I wanted to open it (but who knows if they would have covered it if it was broken). There was no damage on the outside of my crate and the driver put it in my garage (which they say the drivers will not do). It took me about 15 minutes to open the crate as the stand was shrink wrapped and strapped to the top of the crate and I was by myself. If the driver refuses to stay or complains, IM said to write driver refused inspection on the shipping document. If I had to do it again, I would probably try and open it in front of him. The IM video just says to take the top of the crate off, open the top of the internal cardboard box, and remove the top of the Styrofoam to inspect the tank for broken glass.
  10. Definitely mixed reef. I am going to transfer over all my livestock in my 46 gallon bowfront.
  11. After a few months of research and waiting on covid, I finally ordered my adult tank lol. I went with an Innovative Marine Nuvo EXT 100. I really like the idea of a true external overflow box, there is no box inside the tank. It has shipped and is sitting in a warehouse in Portland. I can't wait until it gets here and i can start setting it up! I will post some pics when it arrives. Website photo below.
  12. Here is my July photo. Frag has lost almost all color, but it’s not bleached. Still has some polyp extension so all hope is not lost. I’m upping my nutrients in hopes for a recovery. No noticeable growth. Crappy pic but I am just starting to learn how to use my new camera and need editing software.
  13. Mine is obviously happy after the tank move. 2 new heads have gotten big already.
  14. Great frags I got from @Gumby bigger than I thought they would be. Thanks!
  15. I would like X, T, and F
  16. I am using an eshops HOB overflow. 1 inch drain to the sump with a gate valve. Right now it runs into a filter sock.
  17. Hello All, I recently installed a DIY 10 gallon sump on my main tank after testing and practicing on a spare tank in my garage (wife called it my meth lab). I have some questions and hope I can pick some of your amazing brains! 1. What kind of flow is good for a sump. As fast as possible? As slow as possible? In and out at a medium pace? 2. All things being equal, which chamber is the best one to put the heater in? Do you put the temperature probe in the same chamber? 3. My tank is a 46 gallon bow front. I only have 4 fish in there now, so nitrates and phosphates are testing (salifert) at 0. Should I turn off the skimmer until they go up, and or I ad more livestock? I don't have a massive algae issue, just some spots of turf algae. 4. About a third of my live rock was from my 20 long that I moved everything from. The new rock is starting to show coraline algea growth. It has been running for almost 2 months. Should I leave the old rock in there longer or would it be safe to start removing some. There are a few pieces i don't want to leave in there. 5. Do you always turn off the return pump when feeding? It seems every time I turn it off and restart I have to balance my flow. Thanks for all the help.
  18. Mine has lost a little color but still have good polyp extension and might be starting to encrust the glue. Need to up my nutrients. Also do to the fact I have placed it further back from the glass, it’s hard to get a good pic. Definitely need a better camera than my phone.
  19. Yeah that would suck. It is home depot stuff, the problem was I violated a major diy rule. I bought exactly the amount of elbows I would need. Always buy extra, because it won't be extra lol.
  20. Well here is my photo for May, but I am out of the competition. After last months face dive mine took, it started to go down hill. It receded so much the skeleton started to poke out so I made the decision to move it to my main tank. It is recovered and I think I see a couple new heads. Good luck to everyone still in it!
  21. Some of my green paly heads decided to make a break for it and leave their island prison.
  22. Judging by everyone’s pics, looks I drew the short stick lol. Inspired by @SuncrestReef I took a macro shot of my frag and it also has great polyp extension. This makes me want a real camera even more!
  23. Got my frag today. My tank is a 46 gallon bow front. HOB filter. Tunze 9004 skimmer. 2 Reefi Duo Deluxe lights. Weekly 5 gallon water changes. Testing daily to dial in dosing. Right now using tropic marine all for reef. Will probably switch to 2 part eventually.
