  1. Please close this thread the salt has been picked up.
  2. I'm looking for a Pectinia that is not a space invader or the rainbow. I grabbed a picture of one I found on the internet that I would love to find here locally.
  3. Good call, the fish room is the holy grail. Yeah my wife was the same way at first, she couldn't understand why I wanted to spend so much money on a "fish tank". Thankfully I was able to get her addicted to high end Zoas and bounce mushrooms, so now she's my partner in crime lol.
  4. I think there is some space in your garage for a remote sump 😉
  5. Not that I'm aware. My first roll I just disposed of it and installed a new roll.
  6. @Krux I will talk about editing workflow for both photo and video.
  7. @Krux Yeah that's fine just send me a DM can find a time that works.
  8. Ok so it's about 7.5 x 6 5/8 - roughly 6 inches deep which is adjustable.
  9. I switched over to the Red Sea Salt with higher alkalinity. The bag is about 3/4 full. I live in the Hillsboro area.
  10. At first I was thinking it would be really neat if we could set up a check out system for a Wet band saw like what we have for the Par meter. However, people could get hurt if they don't know how to use it properly. So instead of having a check out system it would be really cool for us to have one set up for the monthly meetings. This would allow members to be able to bring frags to the group meetings that they may need to be cut. They would have it cut by a member of the group that knows how to use the saw.
  11. I saw a few pieces at his shop
  12. So my first roll lasted me two months and I feed my tank twice a day and the corals 2 times a week. Each roll cost around $20 so I stocked up on black Friday. My total water volume is around 220 factoring in the rock. I was washing and bleaching my filter socks on a weekly basis. The other question I get asked about is if it smells...I've never noticed an odor from it. It also helps to keep my water cleaner cause the waste is no longer sitting in the water until I change the sock.
  13. I have used my roller mat for several months now and I will never look back! I love it and I no longer need to wash filter socks. I had to do a slight modification to it but it was super easy.
  14. Oh no worries, the wire hanging kit Aquatic Life provides is adjustable front to back and up and down. It has these 2 points of adjustment on each side so you can balance it all out. After the modification I adjusted the front to back slightly to get it all leveled out again. I've even mounted an AI Prime HD on one side of the unit and I was still able to get everything balanced out.
  15. The second one is an Ultra Dragon Soul Favia. Will let you know once it grows out enough to frag. 😀
  16. Yeah it can definitely be a bit tricky. I've been a professional photographer for going on 15 years and it takes a bit of work to really get your setup dialed in. With macro photography you typically don't need a long lens unless your trying to shoot a coral in the back of a tank or your camera has a low megapixel count. For that reason I typically use my 90mm lens. I typically just crop in on my macro photos which still provides a good photo so long as you're not planning to blow it up to a poster or large print. Most of my finished photo sizes are in the neighborhood of 1500 - 2500px on the long edge which is still substantially bigger than I really need them to be. Another tip I'd have for reefers is to think about coral placement for photography. I strategically position my more photogenic corals towards the front of the tank so I can get great macro shots as they grow and color up. I'm happy to help anyone in the group that wants to get a handle on macro photography for their reef tank. here's a few examples:
  17. I run the AB+ schedule at 50%. However I'm going to start gradually increasing them 5% each week to color up my SPS.
  18. Out of curiosity, are you dropping your shutter speed when you do video? I typically shoot video in 30 fps so I also drop my shutter speed to 1/30 and then bump my ISO up to 250 or 300. As for aperture I rarely go above f8. Going with a small f stop you tend to get more noise and artifacts. I might also suggest using a lens with a shorter focal length so you don't have such a shallow depth of field.
  19. Thanks! Yeah one trick that I do is shoot with the lens hood on and put it flat against the glass so I can make sure that there is no distortion created by being at a slight angle. It takes a little creativity with the tripod legs but I find its the easiest way for me to get a nice crisp shot.
