  1. I need about 30' of 1/2" ID tubing to run from my water change station to my tank. The standard vinyl tubing is kinda stiff and wanted something like what the python water change tubes are made out of. It's really supple and rolls up nice without any memory. I don't think it's silicone. The silicone tubing is nice but super $. Any ideas?

  2. A .8 drop and no death is almost always a probe issue.

If you have had the air conditioning on and the doors closed constantly for awhile it can cause pH problems as well. We normally only see that in the winter, but with the smoke lately I know many of us have had the houses closed up.

Since the smoke is gone I would recommend opening a window today for a bit as a just in case method. Get some fresh air into the house.

    Good luck!

Yea, all corals are happy as ever, so ordering a probe soon. I definitely see some lowering with a bunch of people in the house raising the CO2, but never that far. Thanks though.

  3. When using calibration fluid is it the same temperature as thr tank water?

Hmm, I didn't know about this. Good to know. It's not exactly cool in my house these days, so solution was probably 74 and tank water 78. I'll float the solution for a bit when I calibrate my new probe.

  4. Well I gave it a shot. I cleaned it and it calibrated fine but drifted out of calibration in a hour or so by over a point. Guess I'll toss it. BRS has some replacements for reasonable prices.

  5. You can buy a crimper tool and plug ends at Lowes for probably $15 and make cables all day long. That's how I did mine. Tricky part is finding a diagram and getting the wire sequence right. Not too bad though and you can run the wire like you're running romex and just crimp at the end.

  6. I monitor it in case my alk doser gets stuck for some reason and have Apex cut it off if pH spikes. Is that all that 90s? When it's been rock solid over 8 for months and then tanks to 7, it causes concern. I checked tank again with an old pH test kit and it was normal for my tank despite what probe now says. Bad probe is definitely the problem.

  7. Good call, I luckily had some hanging around and just tried and it's 1.1 under on both the 7 and 10 solution. So looks like tank is fine just probe going bad. Guess I'm in the market for a new one! Thanks!

  8. I set up a pretty low maintenance, surplus gear QT tank a while back and the only thing I don't like about it is the Alk roller coaster that can happen depending on how much you have in there at any given time. You just have to test and hand dose to keep things in check. But well worth it in the long run.

  9. If you were worried about stump remover you can buy bulk potassium nitrate powder for dirt cheap at green leaf aquatics. I think I got 2lbs for $6. Id be more than happy to share some with you. I haven't used it yet as I got my sps to color up by overfeeding, adding fish, and feeding reef chili/roids everyday. And I still have zero nitrates! You'd have to play around with the dose but Rudy mentioned a rough ratio to me that I've forgotten but there are loads of scenarios online. I'll probably try it at some point but didn't want to move too many levers at one time! Let me know if you want some, I'll be at the meeting.

  10. Haha - you can nab the red planet if you would rather... wouldn’t blame you [emoji3]. If you want the monti though you can swing by any time - I have a couple pieces you can choose from.

Well I've had a hankering for that monti for a while. I'll let you know when I can stop by.

  11. I've got the RO varios pump and love it. Has 5 speeds, dead quiet, and been running flawlessly for 2 years. It's really easy to take apart and clean. Has a built in float switch to kill the pump if sump levels get low. Has Apex functionality but I just plugged it into an outlet on my Apex and haven't tried to connect it.
