The full siphon flow rate on the overflow matches exactly the return flow rate back to the tank.

If you divert some to a new device (say 50 gal/hr to a carbon reactor) that is less water going back to your tank. You'll need to restrict your siphon more to compensate.

Now when it comes time to change out the carbon in that reactor and you shut off the water to that device, you are diverting that to the tank now and you'll need to open up the siphon a little to compensate.

Don't think @islandVib3s is using the return as the source for the manifold, but I may have misread the original post.

  2. I have not added berghia, so not those. It kind of looks like the lettuce nudibranch, but was pretty flat and did not have any visible antennae. I'll keep an eye out and try to get a better picture.

prone to high sample to sample variability because the sample volume is so small (only 0.1 ml)

I tried to use one of the inexpensive auto pipettes from Amazon to get the same 0.1 ml every time, but the $40 version was less accurate than using the syringe in the kit.

If you're just running normal plugs do you have to ground it? I just run an extension chord into the fish room and plug in a power strip.

Think it depends on the generator.  If the generator has a dedicated ground other than the frame then it would be required.  I have a Predator 3500 and Honda eu2200i and they are grounded through the frame.
