I think you have one of the coolest banners. For sure.

Welcome. Sounds like you have a bit of experience, but if you have any questions. There is probably someone around here who can help.
Hope to see you at the next meeting.

Welcome!

I have a feeling it was an acid burn. For future incidients, you can search online for the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) of the ingredient and they will give you sure fire guidance on how to handle any type of incident, spill, burn, disposal etc.

Ouch! Yeah, I'd stay clear of getting most testing solutions on your skin. Many are strong acids and bases.
If you do it again, run your hand under water for a minute or so. It should help. Prolonged exposure will cause damage.

I did a similar thing when I doubled the concentration of my alk solution. Dosage wise, a little bit of a change in a highly concentrated solution is much different than a little change in a low concentrated solution. My alk ended up going to 12 for a week or so.
It was even scarier when I decided to switch my DIY alkalinity solutions from sodium carbonate (soda ash) to sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Even testing a few times a day didn't help my anxiety.

It's all good! Now let's get back to talking about how cool my tank is.
I think you mean how cool all your tanks are.

Don't see a lion fish too often.
Nice tank!

Wow, Bert. What a creeper.

Oh, and maybe halve the dose for the first round. See how it goes. I'd hate for you to fry everything.

Gosh. Those instructions are so hard to read. It should say (1mL / 21ppm * 1 gal), but it doesn't. My math worked out to be 262.857mL just like the rest of you.
I strongly advise for people to make their own solutions in the aquarium hobby. Not only is it substantially cheaper, but you know exactly what goes into it and can get just about the same accuracy with the right scale.
Something to point out, is that the "Potassion" bottle does have both potassium chloride (KCl) and potassium sulfate (K2SO4) in it. Probably to help keep those chloride and sulfate ions in balance. There is a similar topic about magnesium in the general discussion.

I have a lot of things listed in my Craigslist ad that are available for sale or trade. https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/for/5977182990.html
Those are amazing prices. I know where I'll be buying my coral this weekend.

That turned out amazing. Seahorses are so cool!

I really like the Flipper magnet. I have two of them and love them.

Flipper is my favorite too.

...but it looks like you don't need them anymore.

Thanks. I saw Amazon have them in pack of 10. I figured I only need 1 and would be faster to get it locally. I figured wrong. Haha

I totally missed this. To find a place that has a lot of different sized needles you should go to a cattle feed / farm store. Most have needles for animals of all sizes.
That's where I used to get my dosing needles.

Here's the link:

You can bring anything you want. Some people bring SPS others bring LPS, some bring small frags others bring larger ones. Anything fits the bill and I am sure you'll find someone to trade with. We are all pretty generous people.

Nice to meet you Alexx! Let us know if we can help, but it sounds like you have everything handled.

Well, now that you mention it, I was thinking about using the gift certificate I got for Christmas. There might not be much left.

That must be a fake. I know Jeff's signature.

Why do you always do these when I leave ?
****Or the weekend everyone comes into Portland for the January Meeting.
That's when I'll be stopping by.

I agree. Just throw it in the back of the tank and see if something comes out in a couple months.

*Bump*
Gonna bring a few things. Nothing too special.

If you are starting a new aquarium, this is definitely the place to be.
Here is the subscription page:
http://www.pnwmas.org/subscriptions/
Although, you can just hangout and ask questions all you want. I even think there is a meeting or two where you could come as a non-member.
I will say...members get a free raffle ticket. :3

I thought it would be good to warn you, rather than say never use root killer.
Some people out there do things recklessly.
Seattle Bob Moore Frag Swap is next weekend!

Last year I know of at least 10 or 15 members that attended, but there were tons of others from the Pacific Northwest area.
PNWMAS will have a table setup for potential new members. Plus, we will be selling donated corals throughout the day.
Hope to see you there!
