  1. No my tang. I love my goby, that's why I was wondering if this is common for yellow eyed kole tangs. I'll just ask around and see if I can't figure out what kind of seaweed they love. Thanks for everybody's advice and help, if anybody else can think of the kind of seaweed that they would like, let me know. I just have frozen cubed seaweed that he eats and grazes off the ground after area feeding. Thanks again guys! Keep it comin! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  2. What kind of seaweed I mean. Sorry Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  3. Aha, I'll have to do that! I like your idea with luring him out, what kind of food did you use to get him out? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  4. Ya, I think I'm going to attempt to catch him prob this weekend and get rid of him. Any ideas for fish trap to catch him. I saw the clear container with fishing line for the string. What should I us to bait him in? Macro? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  5. You guys are awesome! Thank you so much!!!! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  6. Thank you very much for the input, I will keep that in mind. What do you use to keep your goby from jumping? I put a couple sections of egg crate on top of my tank and he was making it through the squares, s I was going to glue some mesh screen to it to stop him from making it through. I'm just a bit worried about the light PAR now that it will be obstructing the top of the water a little. Any thoughts on keeping him in, or is there a point when him jumping out isn't much to worry about anymore? I noticed he was only jumping like crazy when he was freaked out and felt threatened from the kole tang. Nothing else seemed to bother him much. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  7. If I had ichy fish I would, sorry I can't help. Love to see it all work out and I wish you the best of luck!!! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  8. I just got a diamond goby and put a kile tang in about a couple weeks before hand. My tang is being a total bully to my goby. The goby has only been in for about a day, but I was just wondering what people had to say about them adjusting to the tank. Does it take some time for them to find a spot. He dug out one spot but it was back in the general area where the tang usually swims/sleeps/hides. I dont want my tang to kill my goby and will take him back to LFS if need be. Can anybody shine some light on this topic? Inhabitants in the tank are: -2 yellow tail damsels -1 skunk cleaner shrimp -1 Yellow Eyed Kole Tang -3 Turbo Snails -10 blue legged hermits -1 Zoa frag -2 Xenia (about half dollar or smaller in size) Oh ya, 65g, about 50-60lbs of LR. Area feed tank once every 1-2 days with misis, raw shrimp, frozen seaweed delight, and formula 1 pellets. Chemistry is all stable: Ammonia, Nitrite, Phosphate - 0 Nitrate less than 5ppm. (I have chaeto in sump with light to eat excess nutrients) Please help anybody that has anything to say about this, I LOVE my goby and will do what I have to to keep him alive and happy. Thanks for any advice and really appreciate any insight given!
  9. Prob the most informative post! Thank you for the details. That will help, so your saying I should do a more circulative current than a random current to not be so aggressive toward the zoas? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  10. I'll have to check out what spin heads are, I have a very powerful external return pump I have dialed way back, and it would be nice to turn it up a little but be able to put more heads on it or make more returns than just two. I'll check that out, thank you! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  11. I would definitely go with the two MP40's than, no reason to skimp in this hobby! U get what u pay for! They are the best pumps out there, and from what I understand the closest you get to natural movement and strong but soft and gentle current. That's the part that got me interested, strong, but gentle! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  12. I will keep that in mind. It seemed like they might be small but I am new to the hobby and getting advice from long time reefers. Thank you and I will consider MP40. Should a 65 have one or two mp40's? I'm mainly concerned about dead spots in the tank where detritus settles. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  13. I have a new 65g and was wondering what kind of flow was needed for an lps/softie dominated tank. I have zoas, and xania as of now. Xania seems to be blowing around a bit too much but I know they will put up with just about anything. It's my zoas I'm worried about. I have two tunze (I believe) 6015, smaller PH that move around 400-450, I have them on opposite sides of the tank pointing directly at each other. I also have two return lines at the top coming from sump moving prob around 500+ each but facing toward the top to agitate the water and going for the shimmer we all live. I was thinking of either getting two MP10's or a single MP40. Any thoughts on current flow or the two MP10's? What kind of flow is ideal for zoas and softies? Just looking for turnover or a little bit more aggressive than just water turnover? I know that smaller zoas usually have VERY low flow and all seem to love it, when I first put them in my tank they both opened up pretty quick, than they both seemed to close up an hour or two later so I wonder if there is a bit too much water movement around them. I just went and unplugged one of them and will see how they look in the morning but would like some opinions about the MP's. Thanks for all the input and forgive the noob question! 14. OK, no worries at all. I understand. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  15. Would u be willing to come down in price, the lady is giving me crap on how much I have been spending, and she has a point!!! Haha. I really am interested but am also debating on two MP10's. MP40's might be a bit much for my setup. It's a 65 tall. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  16. Ya I have a lot of unseeded rock in already, and some seeded rock as well. I do appreciate the heads up on that, I will QT it before introducing to main tank tho, I have heard too many horror stories not to. :-) Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  17. I'm in Albany tho, trying to find something closer to me, but in the end if that's how far I have to go than so be it! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  18. I am looking to buy some good rock that is covered in coralline algae. I would like to give the coralline a good started to boost growth. If anybody has any I can buy from them I would greatly appreciate it. Or if you have any suggestions on how to start it without the rock, chime in. I would love to hear any input. I have read about Purple-Up but have heard alot of mixed reviews. My alk, mag, and cal is at optimum levels and I do weekly water changes to keep this in check. I will be dosing kalk to maintain these levels soon, but too many parameters are going to change throughout introduction of livestock. Once it is stocked I will start dosing kalk. Not looking for a lot of rock, just some to seed the growth. 65g DT with 10+g sump and in a few weeks will be adding my new 38g refugium as well. temp 80-81 PH 8.2-8.3 Alk 9-11 dkh mag 1200-1300 calc 420-460 (ranges from PWC) Ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5-20 (levels leveling out over time) Thanks for any input or recommendation!
  19. Very nice snag! Its going to be an awesome tank, I love long tanks like that! I am super jealous! Nice find, and congrats!!!
  20. It looks amazing, and you have seemed to do it well. I'm sure everything will do great! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  21. Very nice, its a nice mountain of rock, gives the tank a clean, deep, and clean look. I love it! congrats!
  22. Very nice. Simple yet perfect! Im jealous!
  23. Looks amazing, I have always wanted a small nano, just heard so many horror stories about them and it makes me scared!
  24. Very nice. Well if I buy I will have to have you send it, I'm quite a drive away. I am interested very much, just need to talk to the misses about it in the AM. I have spent over 2.5k in the last month and a half so, its in her hands....haha! The only concern is the less flow that the eco gives out compared to the quiet drive, that's why I have been thinking about getting one! They are great pumps! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  25. How much different are the quiet drive compared to not? My DT is in the living room that's why I am wondering Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
