  1. I kept my shell and ended up placing it back in my quarantine tank. It had some pretty cool coco worms on the shell so I didn't want to end them. Currently two clownfish are hosting in the clam. But it is a reminder of ..... either accidents happen or don't do anything wrong.
  2. Stupid phone messenger. I meant to post that in a message. Oh well.
  3. This is the coral I was making mention of. If you have an idea as to what it is that would be appreciated. As of now I don't have identification for it. Ignore my obvious hair algae issue I have a sea hare hopefully sorting out the situation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I have a pressurized storage container. From my understanding you are essentially converting lost energy by harnessing waste water pressure, forcing it through a one way valve, and using it to generate consistent pressure across the RO membrane. So yes the refresh rate is reduce but also the amount of waste water with the pump only functioning in one direction. I see no reason why you would want to maintain pressure across the RO membrane when it's in standby, so yes there is no added benefit from a standing permeate pump. My city water pressure is high enough I don't need a booster pump, per say. It's a matter of refresh rate versus waste water. So you still get waste water but it's a favorable enough ratio that you reduce your waste water without adding electricity into the equation. Or another membrane. I'm waiting to see how much my water bill reduces by before I decide to put on another ro membrane. It makes sense to add one but I want to see how efficient each component is first. Thanks for your input.
  5. I was looking to trade a fish for coral. I don't have two designer clowns. One is a mis barred rather large perc. and a regular perc. They are a bonded breeding pair. I also have a Sailfin tang that's a pretty good algae eater, doesn't bite clams, and is pretty well tempered. I realize they aren't specifically on your list but thought I would throw it out there before I make my own post about finding them homes.
  6. I'm a mechanical engineer. Sometimes it actually comes in handy when I need to fix something. Or building my own parts. I don't have access to a machine shop anymore but I'm pretty good at machining. Flow simulation......Programming..... taking care of dogs. I think having a fish tank has consumed other hobbies of mine or at a minimum it has combinated them.
  7. Well it tried to kill itself on Saturday and made it until last night. I woke up and the ammonia in my tank is out of control and it isn't responsive anymore. RIP. I'm extremely disappointed. I spent quite a bit of money on products to save it.
  8. I hope mine makes it. I'm sorry to hear about loosing your clam. I'll also be quite devastated if it doesn't pull through.
  9. I believe the onset was stress. I just moved. Someone had unplugged my auto top off system and I didn't realize until I went to fill the reservoir. My mistake, I believe, was that I probably corrected the salinity too soon. I'm not sure what other precautions to take to improve the chances of it surviving. I have a [language filter] remora skimmer and I've gotten some organic matter out of the tank but i'm not sure it's enough. I'll be pretty devastated if it doesn't make it. I've had it a year and it came out of Doug's tank. It's one of the massive beautiful clams.
  10. The clam itself is football sized. I recently moved and it's been in a safe quarantine tank. I freaked out and asked around. I've sent videos and pictures to a few people I know and they think it's spawning. I'm treating the tank with Seachem prime, carbon, skimming, filter sock change, water change, and purfiltrum. Any other hot tips?
  11. I had a voltage leak from a pump a while back. For the longest time I thought it was a heater because it would come and go. I'd use Righttirefire's advise and use a DMM if you have one. Good luck.
  12. I'm not quite sure what you are talking about when referencing gravity and pressure. I'm not trying to overcome head pressure. The RO unit is installed and rather than adding additional components to the RO filtration system itself I want to use a permeate pump to reduce the waste water generated. My question was whether or not people had issues with efficiency. Sometimes design ratings aren't always accurate, in my mind, and an 80% efficiency is reasonable but I just wanted to see if people were happy with their performance. I could decrease the amount of water wasted by adding electricity into the mix but would rather avoid using an electric pump to cycle water back into my line or hot water line.
  13. I've been looking at a permeate pump because I partially wanted to reduce the utilities footprint for my RO unit. Does anyone have any experience with these? From what I gather water is forced in one direction rather than driving the fore line pressure with an electrical pump. They are hypothetically supposed to improve the performance by 80% compared to a functional system, with no assists. My concern is that it wont' actually improve by such a large margin and that I'm better off purchasing an electrically driven pump. I need to spec out the specific permeate pump I would need for my system but here is a general idea of what I have been looking at. http://www.amazon.com/Permeate-Pump-Reverse-Osmosis-Systems/dp/B0038ZYG3G
  14. I am in Corvallis. You should come grab it. My number is provided above.
  15. If anyone wants it they can have it. It's a mixture of small live rock pieces and coral skeletons. It could be useful for gluing fags to or... whatever. Otherwise I'll be throwing out. No trades necessary. 253-753-4552. Or if you think it's totally garbage and no one would want it. I would also love to have someone tell me that so I can throw it out guilt free. http://
  16. My friend has a purple tang. They are aggressive. It's pretty sweet. It's 5" so...maybe?
  17. Yeah, I have been very hesitant because I'm pretty attached to my blue tang. Would anyone be interested in the purple tang that has a more friendly tang free environment that would work out for it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I know that Purple Tangs can be extreme dicks when it comes to other Tangs. But a friend is thinking about passing along a purple tang to me and I am wondering whether or not I'll have issues with my Blue Tang- Paracanthurus hepatus. I know it's not the same shape aka not a member of the Zebrasoma genus. If anyone has any experience or comments that would be much appreciated. Tang police comments welcome.
  19. Oh definitely. I sold it for nothing. Thread needs to be closed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I don't have an xr15 but I have two radions, granted g1's, that I am going to be getting rid of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. From my perspective everyone I've encountered on this forum is a super lowballer and or flake. Expecting to acquire something free because of my situation is low. I doubt I'll be selling or acquiring anything from anyone on here in the near future until my resentment blows over.
