  4. Hello, where can I find true union ball valves locally (the white ones with red lever)? Brs and marinedepot ones are crazy expensive. Thank you
  5. The calcium reactor that has been working flawlessly for over a year will clog and explode xD
  6. I set this up for seahorses but after realizing how busy I am with school and family I don't want to take on the additional stress of caring for such creatures, so I'm letting it go. 16 Nuvo in white 2nd gen. Fits the IM ghost skimmer. Finding a skimmer for the 1st gen is a pain! IM 24w Skkye dual strip led Reef Fanatics auto top off with toms aqualifter. Stealth 100w heater Fine sand (about half inch) Approximately 10lbs of tonga branch rock from TPA (just 90 for the rock alone). Nib replacement media Everything is in excellent condition and FWIW the entire tank including the rock is free of any pests or algae. $350 obo.
  7. Replace it. I had a cut on my finger from work and put my hand in the water that's the only time I felt the voltage. Figured out why my tang was acting erratic.
  8. I used to not wash with bleach in the washer and noticed they would overflow from being clogged within a week. I think the bleach/vinegar breaks down the waste collected in the fibers. Less crap in the fibers maybe leads to lower nitrates. Now I change twice a week so perhaps it wouldn't make a difference.
  9. Are you not worried about the chlorine tap water will leave behind?
  10. Good to hear Kim. I'll keep using bleach but maybe a little less. Maybe I'll try just vinegar also and see how clean they get. I'm just looking for ways to improve the overall health of my tank. Now I'm changing out socks twice a week as opposed to just once like I was doing before.
  11. True. I just always assumed if they were white than they are clean. It's never been about them having to necessarily be white for me. As long as they're clean is what's important I guess.
  12. You think we can get the same cleaning results from washing in white vinegar? Just skip the bleach..
  13. Thanks guys. Seems like bleach is the only way to truly get them clean. I glad there isn't some new found research that shows "bleaching" socks is terrible. Just seeing what everyone is doing nowadays. I feel like I'm always behind the curve lol
  14. Been washing my filter socks in the washer machine with bleach. First wash is on soak, then I do a second wash just water. I let air dry and then reuse. I've been doing it this way for a while now. My only concern is when dry they still have that bleach smell to them. Should I be doing something different? How are you guys/gals cleaning you filter socks? Thanks
  15. I have a second gen IM nuvo 16 with upgrade dual strip skkye led and other goodies. Pm me if you're interested.
