How often do you change out your gfo and carbon? I recently went through a hair/bryopsis algae battle. It was rough on my lps but if you want to beat it you have to "attack" it fairly aggressive. Check your ro/di, change out your gac and gfo more often than normal, dim your white lights a bit, and manually remove as much as possible.

Looks like cyano. What are you dosing? Check your top off source (ro/di).. I go through carbon blocks like no other during the summer months. Whats your tank temp?

I hear you Chris, and I understand the message you're wanting to send to everyone. I enjoy going into a lfs and picking things out like a kid at a candy store. Running into familiar faces is another perk. I'd hate to see our local vendors not do well to the point of shutting down.

Like ChrisQ said I've also been told more than once to shop online instead. Sorta leaves me scratching my head.. I still like to shop locally for livestock but sometimes that could be a challenge as well. For some, convenience is key in all this. Some people live such busy lifestyles that having things delivered to your door just seems like a good idea.

Is anyone currently using or have used miracle mud? Now that I have the refugium up and going I'm considering adding a few pounds to it. I remember all the hype about it a few years ago but never bought into it. Im looking at some recent reviews with excellent ratings and feel that I'm gonna have to try it and find out myself. Let me know what you guys/gals think. Thanks

You nailed it Bert! That is the plan. I have it plumbed so it goes back directly to the return and feeds the display and frag tank. Just got done chatting with Brad and I might also start feeding phytoplankton into the refugium.

Hmmm. Sounds like you're going to be limited on options.

The vertex libra and ghl profilux are both great units. You set the dose amount to whatever your tank needs are, tell it in what size increments to dose ( I think you can go down to .05 ml) and it does the rest for you. I can't say for the others as I've only used the two mentioned above but they leave little to be desired. Also they are a standalone unit so you will not need an apex.
