  1. I have to say I'm very happy and impressed with the Red Sea ReefLED 160S lights. Buy from Cuttlefish. Simple like Kessel, which is my biggest praise. Unless you like having 5 channels to play with for no real reason, I'd highly recommend. And I've had the XR30 Radion (non pro), and 160S blows them away imo.

  2. I just learned something new tonight while refilling my reactor. It’s always been a long trial and error process to get the thing refilled with water and fully running again, especially with a dosing pump. I tried putting a tee with valve on my effluent output and created a vacuum! Did it with my mouth, but next time it’s my Mitivac. It fully filled up both my canisters, then I just shut off valve! If any of you already know this method, why isn’t it documented by any brands or other hobbyists?

  3. If you've got space, a refugium is SOOOOO much easier and lower maintenance. I've toyed with buying and/or building an algae scrubber for years now, but that weekly (or even more often) chore of scraping that sheet clear keeps me from doing it. I have a hard enough time changing my filter sock, and that is 10X quicker and easier.

  4. Dang, I've got two of those reflectors that Ladashark has along with two 250W+HQI selectawatt ballasts sitting under my bed waiting for a rainy day. With brand new Radium bulbs too. This set up grew SPS like crazy, but I couldn't handle the heat in my house or in the tank. PDXMonkeyboy is right on the 300W output, because they were significantly hotter (temperature) running the 250W+HQI setting on selectawatt than my old blue magnetic ballasts.
