  1. Thank you for the advice on the hydno. I put it on the sandbed in a spot where there are no corals within 4 inches (closest thing is my condylactis anemone). I was reading that some of them can have sweeper tentacles that go out 1-2 inches, but I have not seen any of those yet.
  2. I got a new multifunction printer for xmas and I would like to trade my old one for a couple frags. It is a Canon MP 170 which does print/scan/copy and it has a memory card reader built in. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it and it did not get a whole lot of use. There is a 95% full black ink cartridge in there (about a month old, but we only printed a few things with it), but no color one (we would only print documents and had no need for the color). I may even have an extra USB cable around here somewhere (I will look in the morning)if you need it. I can bring it to you or you could come to my place and get it - im easy. Anyways, here are a few pics...
  3. Between the two sales that they had, I got some stuff I am very happy with for cheap. Also, the service there was EXCELLENT and I was very pleased with my experiences there thanks to Nick and Cosmo. A+++ for Rose City and I will most definately be doing my shopping there from now on. Here are some of my treasures... **Hydnophora **Purple Frogspawn that is splitting into 3 heads **Zoas **my first Favias **Sunset Montipora **Coral Banded Shrimp I also got a good sized Idaho Grape montipora cap and another montipora cap that is currently bleached white with purple rim that Nick said when it colors up it should be green with the purple rim. If you havent been to Rose City, you need to!! (rock2)(rock2)
  4. I am thinking about getting a coral banded shrimp for my tank, but will there be any issues with having it in there with my cleaner shrimp? I have looked online and read that they are reef safe and you should only have one in a tank unless they are a mated pair, but I was unable to find anything about compatibility with other shrimp species. Let me know what you think.

    Frags

Hey Frank, thanks for the frags and it was great to meet you!! I am super stoked to have some new monti's.

    Frags

I will take the $15 rainbow monti.
  7. Merry Christmas people!! I hope everyone has a great day and enjoys the time with their loved ones!
  8. Is there a specific time to be there?
  9. I have found that if you take a syringe with boiling water in it, you can melt them without having to use any chemicals or take the rock out (unless you are not able to reach them). When doing this, stick the tip of the needle right in the middle of the majano and push the plunger! The majanos retract pretty quickly into their little hole in the rock, so be quick on the trigger. After getting one, I usually plunge one or two more syringe-full of the boiling water into the spot where it was just to be sure that it all got melted. Good luck

    Mushroom Poop!

So I was looking at my tank a little bit ago and my 5" green hairy mushroom had shriveled up to just about 2.5" and was spitting poop out its mouth lol. I have never seen this before and thought it was kind of amusing (laugh)
  11. Where/when will the January meeting be taking place? I would like to participate
  12. Putting 10 damsels in my tank and then after realizing they are evil, trying to catch them to take them out of the tank - ended up getting one of those acrylic fish traps and got them one at a time over a period of a couple hours. It was kinda like real fishing...had a few beers, baited the trap, caught some fish
  13. So, today I called Saltwater Fanta-Seas to see if they would price match another local LFS in Portland (which their website states they "Will meet or beat any store in town") on some T-5 bulbs because their price is like $31 and other stores only charge $25 and Patrick said he would not match the price because then he would only be making $1.50 on each bulb and he recommended that I go buy from the other store so that they don't make much profit and will eventually go out of business so that he has less competition. Is he serious?? What kind of retailer tells customers something like that? He did not comment about his price guarantee posted on his site (which he tells all his customers about in person as well). Does he pull this kind of BS on anyone else that shops there too?? I will absolutely be shopping at Seahorse (which I already do most of the time) and checking out Rose City in lieu of SWF from now on in the cases where Seahorse is closed or don't have something that I need.
  14. CONGRATS!! I have 2 daughters (8 years/5 months) and I have got to say that kids are great! Good luck with everything. (clap)

    My First Clam!

So I had some credit to spend at SWF yesterday and I walked out of there with my first clam! It is a Maxima and I know it isn't really bright colors like some are, but I didn't want to cough up the dough for a spendy one until I know how well it will do in my tank. IMO, it does have a cool pattern though. It's about 3" long. I put it up about 6" from the water surface so that it gets lots of light since I don't have halides. SWF said it should be fine like that since my lights are only about 4" from the surface of the water. It is fun to watch the clam close up when fish swim by and then open back up. (clap)
  16. So, today it deflated again, then after a few hours inflated back to normal but with the gaping mouth again. I am just going to keep watching as was suggested. It hasn't come apart or spit anything out.
  17. Just looked again at it...appears to be just one still, but the mouth area on it is really big right now.
  18. WOOT!! It's all good and happy now again!!(clap)
  19. Thank you all for your help with this:D
  20. No I have not target fed it since day 2. I do have 5 gal of water mixed up ready to change some if need be.
  21. I would say that the flow is "low" where it is located.
  22. Ok. I will just keep an eye on it...I was reading that if they die that it can cause an ammonia spike and freak out the tank.
