  1. i just polished a tank last week. the reason i say polished is because i didn't use sand paper(which is buffing). if you go to tap plastics, you can get a "#2" acrylic polisher that does just about everything for two bucks, then you can get a buffing wheel at an auto store. then you just apply the goo and use the wheel. this involves no sand paper, and is really cheap. the best part is that there is no damage that can be done to the tank. this will make any scratches look smooth and be invisible with water. however if you are picky, then you use some sand paper, start heavy and go fine, then you goo it up and polish. it is that simple. don't be fooled. any more questions, just shoot me a pm
  2. yes, tap plastics is the place to go. also if you go to the sea horse aquarium supply, and buy some stuff (i imagine you will need things of you are setting up a tank), then they will do it for free. they are nice people. they are located on 21st and colombia
  3. haha, i have to say it is a little awkward to eat a fish dinner while looking at my fish tank in the living room

    DIY filter

change? take out? IMO i would go with live rock rubble... 1$ per pound... and you should never take out the sand, that is a disadvantage, because if debris gets in the sand, its not the best thing. if you do LR then you can manage it much better. also why no sump? you can do exactly what you are talking about with the same amount of money most likely with a sump, and you will have more options.

i would be worth it to also get some egg-crate and pieces of plastic. then you can glue the plastic on the side, and have the egg crate rest in the plastic nubs. this would be good for making defined levels that each part of the filter can rest on. also, it might be worth it to use a different shape container if you do this, like a rubbermaid. this would be better for the egg-crate. just out of curiosity, why no sump?
  6. hollywood has one... overpriced though. looks REALLY nice. 400g i think
  7. so i am going to do a FOWLR. in terms of compatibility, aggressiveness, hardiness, characteristics, which is going to be a better choice? Picasso trig, or niger?

  10. Hi there, i am setting up a FOWLR saltwater aquarium, and i want to get some cool fish. the tank is a 45 truvu, the filtration is a 35 sump with a bak pak 2 protein skimmer, micron filtration and a spot designated for a 'fugium. what are some good fish? i did some poking around and make a list of some fish that i like. dogface puffer foxface humu trigger heniochus sailfin tang clowns chromis i know this is too much to have all of them, but what are the pros and cons of these fish ( also open to new suggestions)? How are they compatibility wise? and what is a good diet for them? (threaten)(plotting)(wife)
  11. i think i might go with lion fish and ask him to move around the rocks... i did a water change and am running carbon, so i think we are in good shape
  12. hi there i currently have a tank cycling. my brother just mistakenly put in some water clarifier that says "freshwater only". should i be worried? i plan on doing a water change before i add any creatures. the brand was "acurel f" thanks!
