LOL too funny!!! (laugh) That was my only complaint about the last domino I had' date=' he was always bitting me whenever I put my hand in the tank. Didn't hurt but he would startle me so bad I was worried I was going to break my lights. I guess it's my fault for being so jumpy.[/quote']
I've broken a MH fixture that way when my maroon clown bit me. Luckily I didn't get cut, but got burned pretty good.
Stupid clown!

It or they will be going in a tank with a lion fish so I need a large one or two if they can be together. I do have a large sump to grow it or them out in though. Guess it depends on size and cost. Send me a message and let me know what ya got.
The ones I have readily available are just a tad smaller than a golf ball. Every now and again my LFS gets a monster.
If I see a large one I'll let you know.
I had a pretty good size one in my sump, but my snowflake ate it.

that bell's is the prettiest flasher wrasse ive ever seen....
agreed!

I'll be getting a pair of both eventually. A friend of mine is the only one importing them, so i'll let the hype die down a bit so he can supply his customers. New York aquatics was has/had a pair for sale of the Johnsoni for $799.99 if anyone was interested.

Those things are terrors. I've had them attack me while snorkeling. ballsy little bastards. They aren't afraid of anything.
My wife loves them, but i told her to get her own tank. lol

Figured i would share some pics from earlier in the week. Excuse the coloration, they were photographed about 2 minutes after they were unpacked. I'm sure the wrasse addicts will appreciate this.

Don't use egg crate. I've lost two female flame wrasse and a zebra blenny using egg crate.
Here is a write up i did on another forum. As for the netting pictured above, you can get at bulkreefsupply.com http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/catalogsearch/result/?q=netting&x=0&y=0
Well, i hit the point where the cost of fish out-weighed my laziness.
Eggcrate is only good for large fish! I lost two small female flame wrasse and an algae blenny. All three made it right through the holes of the eggcrate.

Pretty easy DIY.
First step is to search the house for an hour to find a hack saw. lol The pictures are pretty self explanatory, but if you have questions just ask.
Notes:
-
Do not try to stretch the screen tight. No need, will just put un-needed stress on the frame which will warp it and make it not true.
-
All frames are aluminum. "Bronze" is just a color.
-
Clearcoat frames for added protection if you wish.

Took a while to get used of the mainland time change. It took my Aussie leopard almost 2 weeks.
Good luck, I wish you the best. They are the hardest leopards to keep. I recently picked one up from the local LFS because it was eating brine.
So far so good... It's been a week.

I bit the bullet on lighting...
Tuesday:
So all LEDs parts are in, so its time to get started. Details of the setup are as follows:
48 XR-E Q5 Royal Blues
48 XR-E Q5 Cool White
2 - 24" Heatsinks
4 - Mean Well ELN-60-48Ds (0-10v Dimmable)
All above items purchased from Bill @ www.reefledlights.com. Bill is a great guy and i would recommend him and his company to all.
Heatsinks:
One corner out of 8 bent from shipping. Its only the very corner fin. I may or may not try to bend it back.
The dollar bill is there to show you how much money i have left after buying all this crap...
96 LEDs pre-tinned and Blues mounted on one fixture in under an hour. I wanted to submit this pic for the photo contest. It's reef related...right?
Wednesday:
Wired Blues:
Wired Whites:
Test Fire Blue Good:
Test Fire White... not so good. Looks as if two stars are not firing. Solder points are good, not sure what the deal is.
Today:
Solder Joints were not good... 2 out of 280 solder points isn't that bad.

I use the Blue and White when taking pictures of fish. I distribute for Mr. Aqua Rimless tanks and the panel fits perfectly over the 12" cube.
I really have no use for the all Blue one though.

Not sure if this is nerdy, but i've been a gamer my whole life. Started way back with colecovision. I think i've had every console since.
I'm 33 years old and have a 360, ps3, and wii. My 360 gets the most play.

I'm trying to light a tank that is only 12 inches deep and will only have temperate macro algaes in it from the Oregon coast, almost all from tidepools. Think one of these lights would do the job? I'm mostly concerned with having a broad spectrum light since the algae will be coming from less than 12 inches of water on average.
What do you think?
What worries me is that you mentioned tide pool organisms. I know i am a bit closer to the equator than you are, but you would be surprised what PAR levels the sun puts out.
There was an old report done on the Waikiki Aquarium outdoor tank. All readings were taken at 24" of depth. (A lot deeper than your average tide pool)
Mid day this tank peaks at just over 2500 PAR! Even at noon when the tank is shaded by a large palm tree the tank runs around 750 PAR.
(source: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/nov2002/feature.htm)
Lets say your sun puts out half that... You will be pulling algae from a 1250 PAR range and putting them into a 50-60 PAR range. We will never put out PAR numbers like the sun... I think your algae will have a tough time with the acclimation. I do collect zoas from these 2500 PAR waters and acclimate them fine in 350 -500 range, but i know they would be hurting under even 100 PAR.
Check out www.reefledlights.com This is where i just bout my set-up for my 6 foot tank.

They are good for fish onley
They would be fine for fish only. My tank (pictured above) is 15" deep, so keep that in mind. Not sure how much light they would put out in a deeper tank.

I have PAR numbers for these fixtures... I'll have to get them for you. Give me a few minutes.
Don't waste your money. I bought them to test as I couldn't find anybody that had.
If they were sufficient, I was going to line 12 of them over my tank. I have 96 Cree XP-Es arriving Monday instead.
Kevin
Sorry, my numbers are from the original poster's link. Not the recent panels you are all talking about.
All Blue:
Surface: 180-200
7 Inches: 100
15 Inches: 80
White & Blue:
Surface: 120-150
7 Inches: 80
15 Inches: 60
Blue/White:
All Blue:
I set up the camera on the tripod and started to compare. Same settings through out. I compared the two panels to a single ATI Blue+ 24" T5 bulb (not overdriven).
The T5 is first, Keep in mind it is 24" long and the panels are only 12".
All Blue:

Horseshoe crabs! Tons of them on the MA coast as well. They get huge on the east coast like mentioned.
My brother got jabbed in foot by one of those tails growing up. Not pretty.
