  1. I wasn't complaining I wanted them regardless. To be perfectly honest It was like looking at a really hot chick on a car, I never really notice the car :) I saw the pics and I just had to have them the size does'nt make any real difference to me although the fragging will be a bit more challenging than I was expecting lol.

BTW Kevin was that a freebie in there or was something in 2 frags? I did'nt have time to wait for them to open and the curiosity is killing me.

I'm sorry, i just re-read my post and i sounded like a smart-A#@. I didn't mean it to come off like that.

    That 5th frag was a free-b. aloha!

  2. OK they showed up at 11:45. I went home for lunch and acclimated them and put them in. I have to work till 10 tonight so I wont have any updates till tomorrow morning when the lights come on. These things are alot smaller than I was expecting though I was assuming ding dang size but they look more like nightmare size ish maybe a little bigger. Cant wait till they open up so I can see for sure.

PE polyps are called Zoanthus gigantus for a reason. :) These are just regular Zoanthus sp. - you're average size zoanthid.

When ever you are buying online, keep an eye out for the frag rack squares. You average frag rack square is 5/8" - 3/4" square. Good way to reference size.

    Aloha!

  5. Kevin' date=' you're not even speaking my language. I also do not get why it works well and then doesn't. I only learned what pinging was and I kinda get the whole packet receiving thing. Jackaninny seems to be the most on top of this and I think he did send the info to the hosting company.[/quote']

    Sorry,

The hosting company for this site is HostDime. HostDime's servers could be overloaded. Bandwidth issues?

vBulletin is the forum software PNWMAS uses. Mods can be many things. skins, facebook integration, as well as back-end add-ons for the staff. On one of my sites, i get an email every time two members log on with the same IP address.

MySQL is just a database management system that is commonly used for vBulletin forums.

    Kevin

  6. Has anybody sent this info to the hosting company?

How many modifications have been made to the vBulletin?

What version of MySQL is being used?

I have issues here from time to time. Mostly slow response. I just chalked it off as a hosting issue.

edit: it took about 15 seconds for me to post the above after hitting submit post.

  7. Ping got this....

can you do that to one of my sites?

    www.fycracing.com

    www.reefhawaii.com

Both are forums. I also have 3 web stores on that server.

  8. Also, for the record...

R2R has a minimum of $10,500.00 coming in each month. That's over $126,000 per year in just sponsorship income. It's actually more, i just didn't count the manufacturer sponsorships. I'm sure the owners of PNWMAS will take some donation to help fix the problem.

  9. After my video finishes, there are some related videos of yellows in the wild. They are almost always found in schools. It is very rare to see one yellow tang by itself in the ocean. I never have snorkeling in these waters for the last 20 years. (i used to vacation here every year before moving)

  10. Will do. Here are the ones we will be fighting this year.

    SB151: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/session2011/lists/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=SB&billnumber=151

    - This one is a complete ban on aquarium fish, but it takes effect in 5 years with a scientific committee being formed in the interim.

    SB1098: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/session2011/lists/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=SB&billnumber=1098

    - This is the same bill we opposed at the City Council a couple months back. However, Maui county introduced it on their own. This one is made to look reasonable, but really it's a total ban on all fish. This one is probably the one we have to worry about the least.

    House:

    HB459: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/session2011/lists/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=HB&billnumber=459

    HB590: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/session2011/lists/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=HB&billnumber=590

    - Both of these are copies of the Maui County bill from the city council. These are the least likely bills to get heard, but we still need to oppose them strongly.

    HB635: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/session2011/lists/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=HB&billnumber=635

    - This one is not actually a ban, but it calls for steep fines if people are caught catching aquarium fish without a permit. The catch is, the fines are extremely high ($500-$200 per fish) and most offenders would be innocent kids, so we obviously can't let it pass as-is. It's also dangerous because if it crosses to the Senate, they could change it something much worse such as a total ban.

  11. update... (too short)

Good news - today, the fish ban was thrown out.

It was replaced by a bill to create marine conservation districts on the island of Maui. It seems that, even though that island doesn't even have an aquarium industry, most of the complaints came from there (go figure).

There's still several more bills to ban aquariums floating around, though, so it'll be a while before we're in the clear.

  12. Just a quick update...

First for Gill. A representative from DLNR was there on our side to oppose the ban. He used the article you posted by Walsh to help us prove the industry is sustainable. I thought that was funny.

Second... We had a good turn out by the industry. A lot of the big players from Big Island and Maui showed up to help oppose this bill. Snorkel Bob and his entourage were there, including a marine biologist from Chaminade University. There were children brought to testify for the Ban. (Cheap move in my eyes) There was also the save the whales people there that banished the Supper Ferry from Hawaii, though they got embarrassed by the senate people.

We had the industry, the Department of Land and Natural Resources, University of Hawaii, and Waikiki Aquarium there to help us out. I was told that almost 100% of these bills get passed through the senate. After all said and done a decision was not made. We will hear the decision next Thursday. If the bill passes our next job will be to oppose the bill at the House meeting.
