  3. All of his racks used the black colored grating. He made a stair step / levels out of it. Can't remember if it was just zip ties or zip ties and glue to hold it together. Makes great use of space in a tank and let's you get a nice view of everything versus all on the tank floor or a single level shelf. Post back here so everyone knows where to find it locally.
  4. I noticed Patrick at SWF just did a bunch of coral display racks out of the stuff. You might call him see where he got it.
  5. So can we discuss the Ducks getting their 14th top choice for basketball coach?
  6. Just got word back that it is fine to purchase the EB8 without purchasing the Apex package. Also the EB8 orders are now over 12 so the $125 price is solid. You need to PM user cmgallon over at this thread with your name, email, and shipping address. Sponsor will be sending out invoices on the 29th with payments due on the 5th.
  7. I used RectorSeal Epoxy Putty to stabilize much of my rockwork. Works really well and cures underwater. Same stuff as the "special" reef putty but can be found at Home Depot for $2 and change for a 4 oz. tube. RectorSeal Epoxy Putty Only downside is that my skimmer went crazy for about 48 hours after I used a full tube of RectorSeal in my Biocube 29. With a large volume tank it might not be so bad but keep an eye on your skimmer or just turn it off for 48-72 hours.
  8. Here's a link to modified version of the Apex Manual Apex Controller Handbook V10 PS. Haven't heard back from the guy in charge of the group buy yet
  9. Confirming this but I'm pretty sure you would be good to go. Latest count for just the extra EB8 is 10 so you might be the magic person to push that item over the 12 group buy number needed.
  10. Forgot to mention that Velcro ties work great in place of zip ties and are much easier to undo and move.
  11. Bump - Time is almost up on the group buy - getting close to being be able to get an extra EB8 for $125 (12 buyers needed for that one item) in addition to the main Apex package for $395. I have only heard from one other local person about combining shipping so speak up soon if you are interested.
  12. You are looking for 'wire loom' for example For just a plain power strip check out this one with individual switches.
  13. Bow down energy wasting infidels! Meet your new master EcoReef One! All your Watts belong to us
  14. I like the modular idea of the fixture and the ability to easily change out the bulbs for color reasons. Also the ability to change out a single bulb with newer, more efficient LEDs would be pretty trick. Sirius Mini Reef 38 Modular
  15. Inspired by sponsor Tim at Westsde Aquarium in this post I thought I'd ask what is the biggest single piece of live rock you have in your system? What special accommodations did you have to make to get/fit it in your tank? PS Pictures always make things more interesting.
  16. Your tank so it needs to meet you tastes but since you are asking It's a little hard to tell but it looks like most of the current LR you have in there are smaller pieces. You might consider getting some much larger base pieces and then rearrange around those large pieces. In the process you could raise the top of the reef in relationship to the lights giving you more flexibility in placing corals in the tanks (ie not having to have a bunch of 12" pieces all across the top ridge. Consider forming a slope, starting maybe half way across , from left to right. Really large, tall pieces could then go on the right without being too close to the lights and it allows you to break up "wall effect".
  17. I would add if you can get fans and a compatible variable speed controller you can adjust the speed down to just where you need it and reduce any extra noise they might produce. My rule of thumb is to use bigger (in mm) and slower (in RPM) fans and you will almost always move more air more quietly. Also remember it's about flow ACROSS at system not AIMING fan flow at the system.
  18. Grassi- Any particular titles you would suggest? Currently at Powells
  19. I think that's mostly true but remember that not all computer fans are built equal from in terms of quality, noise or efficiency. The SilenX brand is what Nanotuners uses for the combo of quiet and efficiency. You will find a number of higher quality fans at sites like The Cooler Guys.
  20. Depending on the size you need these are some of the best out there SilenX
  21. If anyone on this board jumped on this deal and wants to combine shipping let me know. Payment instructions are going out next Tues/Wed and are due May 3rd so we should try and get a plan together ASAP.
  22. Curious what you guys are using for lighting in your QT tanks?! Compared to your display tanks?
  23. I'd be interested in a head of Duncan and I'll be heading to Beth's at some point.
