  2. Re: Free purple hornet? I say go for it. We, or at least the people that want to combine shipping, need some sort of central location to ship to. We can talk about drawing straws or whatever. You know thinking about it though IF we didn't have 1 or 2 frags not make it instead of someone(s) getting left out we could always wait for a little growth and then frag again and make sure everyone is made whole. If I'm wrong about how easy or stupid that idea is please someone tell me.
  3. Advanced Aquarist tested the MP10 and found it actually pushed about 20% more than advertised - Link - so that brings it up to 1800gph.
  4. Vortech has introduced a new MP10 and MP40 model called the Ecosmart (ES). Lots of pretty cool features and it gives an upgrade path to give the MP10/MP10ES model a wireless feature. I have an MP10 in transit to me so I was a little bummed about old/new model but Vortech has a very reasonable upgrade path. For the MP10 to the MP10 ES it's $55 and for a MP10 to a MP10W ES is $85. The list price of the MP10 ES will be $220 and the MP10W ES will be $265. I might be a few bucks off but those prices are pretty close. Ecosmart I forgot to add they have similar models in the MP40 line. No changes to the MP20 line and with all the reviews of the MP10 I wonder if this means the MP20 is facing the end of the line.
  5. Re: Free purple hornet? I guess I'd suggest to the shop person that it would be driving traffic to their shop to a small degree. I know I'm more likely to spend money if I'm standing at a shop than if I'm sitting on the couch. I'm not too worried about getting cheated out of a frag - I mean it's probably going to cost me $5 right? One idea would be first come first serve. Another would be to go in by the list order. Both of those assume a shop would help us out. Patrick at Saltwater Fantaseas seems like cool dude and so does Nick at Rose City and both have pretty cool stuff to check out. I would host the frags for pickup but I'm pretty new at this and I'm not sure I'd trust my skills with other peeps stuff at this point - give me another year and I'll have more confidence.
  6. I'm in Portland. I wonder if one of the shops would take deliver and hold them for us? Peeps could then just swing by the shop and pick it up. Anyone got a good connection?
  7. I would lean towards lower shipper cost over getting my hands on it sooner.

  11. Seriously thinking of starting a thread compiling all of these supertanks in one place.
  12. I see OP is also on the ship list - so that makes the list I know of: lewisriverfisherman pds802 moovinfast jackaninny vanz

  15. I just made my requirements and sent a PM to be added to the list. I mentioned the group ship for PNWMAS also.

  17. I just ordered an MP10 YESTERDAY! $175.49 shipped from Big Al's with Nanoreef coupon code. I wonder what their restock fee is :-)
  18. I make a living supporting a couple hundred Windows PCs and have done so for 15+ years. I moonlight for extra $$$ building higher end Windows machines. I have used Mac and Windows computers since the mid 80's as a kid. I have also used Unix/Linux machines since the early 90's. These are my bona fides. I have yet to find a single piece of Windows software that I could not find a similar software package on the Mac that did a similar or better job. Need to run Windows? Use Bootcamp (free with the Max OS) and you are running a Windows PC - no emulation - it runs directly on the hardware. Reboot and you can run the Mac OS. You also have two very good options of running Windows within a window of the Mac OS. I will take the "1/100th" of quality Mac software over the universe of cr@p Windows software every single time. For the casual user the out of box experience on the Mac is more complete and far less confusing. Windows 7 has narrowed that gap quite a bit but there is something to be said for the fit and finish of the Mac OS and the hardware, in particular, the unibody Macbooks are the bomb. I have also been very impressed with the retail experience at the Apple stores and the Genius Bar (tech support) in the stores is very well run. For the advanced user there is plenty of software packages to meet your needs. For the gamer there are fewer choices BUT 1)who has time to play games? 2)many popular titles are available for the Mac. I personally think for the virus/spyware issue alone a Mac is worth it. People also wring there hands about upgradeability but memory and hard drives are easily upgradeable in a Mac and outside of those upgrades 95% of PC users would (and probably should) buy a new computer instead. I still recommend a Mac for most people because I'd rather talk to them about cool software and getting things done on a Mac than how to fix their Windows machine.
  19. Re: could use a suggestion It's crazy nice outside so get out for a bike ride or hike. Beaver basketball game is on right now also. More important is to start making lists and get sh!t done. Seems silly but that todo list means you don't have an excuse for idling the engines.
  20. Re: Ordering the glass for my cube today!!! What species of catfish is that?
  21. Re: Computer support/help I'm in the same field with just a few years more experience. $25/hour or $100 to reload an OS is a steal people so jump on this before he realizes it :-)
  22. Is it just a pinhole leak? At a joint? Do you know what caused it? Is the wall open or sheetrocked over? Band-aid solution would be epoxy putty or pipe wrap which is a resin impregnated fiberglass wrap. Real solution would be to cut out ~2 1/2" section around the break and the use a sweat coupling or repair sleeve and solder it on. Just remember to use a heat shield and have water/extinguisher as backup.
  23. A little late to the party I know but you want to be careful running that cable outside. Unless the cable is rated for outdoor use it might last 2-3 years before breaking up due to temp and UV even though most CAT5 has a PVC jacket it's a pretty thin one. Avoid a location that would also expose it to any foot traffic.
