  1. I counted 42 when it started and 5-10 more showed up after that. 1 speaker and two out of town sponsors are included in those numbers. Totally forgot but we should have asked if there we peeps from any other clubs there today.
  2. $1000 tops and that's if it has a nice skimmer and good lights. He'll get desperate and lower that price in a hurry.
  3. Just my personal opinion but you have the BEST day for a birthday
  4. I think there was some Cowboy bashing also - if not I can start some.
  5. I still buy 90% of my music on physical discs and then rip to FLAC which is a lossless format. I have a number of Squeezebox devices around the house attached to powered speakers and my home theater setup. The Squeezebox units use high quality 24 bit DAC and they pull any of my music off a older PC running the Squeezebox server software. Frankly it's pretty [language filter] hard to hear any quality drop off from just playing my physical discs and I never have to touch a disc after it's ripped. As for Apple being "greedy" you do know that they only license the music so they are very limited in the pricing. Steve Jobs actually fought quite hard for the original .99 / song pricing which was a HUGE change not only in terms of price but also not having to but an entire album at a time. Another myth is that DRM was Apple's decision - Apple was forced by the recording industry to implement a DRM scheme in order to be able to sell it through the iTunes store. Apple was able to use it's market size later to exchange dropping DRM and letting the industry choose variable pricing for individual songs (I think its .69 / .99 / 1.29 now). In terms of hardware there are very few units that beat the iPod line for build and sound quality in a portable device. The sound quality from my iPhone is pretty [language filter] good.
  6. When you know the owner's pets names.
  7. R2R already has a system setup to accept funds via Paypal so no need to stop by anywhere just visit R2R.
  8. New place on NE Mississippi Ave opening with a 1300 gallon reef tank and 800 gallon Koi pond. Opening May 15th. Anyone have the backstory on the tank? Uchu Place website
  9. Sounds like you had a poor dish install or a bad LNB - I would never trust Dish or Directv installers - find a 3rd party and pay them to install the dish and run the cables - worth every penny. The only time I get signal drop out with Directv is when ice accumulates on the dish but a supersoaker filled with de-icer from the upstairs bedroom window has been known to work well.
  10. Yes the iPad comes in a Wifi only model. Go to an Apple Store and play with the new model - it's the shiznit but prepared to wait as it was just released a week ago and supplies are very constrained right now.
  11. Here is the FAQ from Multnomah County library on their audio and ebook lending: http://www.multcolib.org/ref/ebooksfaq.html My wife has a 2nd gen Kindle and went from reading a couple books a month to 6-8 a month. Loves the device and loves the experience. The Kindle is not terribly friendly with the lending services but it can be done with a little effort: http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Add_Books_to_Kindle_Guide Still love my iPad for reading and it's got a billion more uses when I'm done with a book.
  12. 1) microscopic cross section shot of some internal organ 2) a crowd of people - perhaps waiting outside an Apple Store for an iPad 3) a car - probably an import and it's bring driven by someone famous (can't tell who though) 4) dinner - not fast food - probably a vegan dish
  13. Bumping this up - Has anyone called the LFS and/or sent a flyer/email? Maybe even the shops up north?
  14. Check out Bulk Reef Supply or Air Ice Water - pretty one of them has install videos for RODI systems. Not hard really and lots of options for all sorts of home configurations. IMHO - an RODI system is one of the best things you can invest in from both a money savings and a time savings perspective.
  15. Or set your white balance with them on first.
  16. Used Canon G9 or most the Canon Powershot line. Check out http://www.dpreview.com
  17. Hopefully they can actually build a production unit at a not too obscene price. Nanocustoms Prototype
  18. Ecoxotic is releasing a 100W Canon - supposed to be shipping next week. Mount 15-19" above tank gives a spread of 24" x 36" - $499 and you can light that whole 40b with a single fixture. Ecoxotic 100W Canon
  19. Luke at Reef Filtration is great resource for SWC skimmers - both suggestions/technical info and purchasing.
  20. Unless I personally knew the seller I would never buy a camera used unless it had a good return policy - that goes for lens also. It's true that what's behind the lens makes more of a difference than the camera itself up to a point. There are just some things a small point and shoot can't do that a DSLR can no matter who is shooting. It's fine to geek out on the features but do NOT expect those features to produce spectacular looking pics by themselves. I will add that DSLRs tend to hold their value more at the higher end and if you get into photography in ernest you will spend multiples on your glass collection compared to the cost of a body.
