Yeah, he was a great guy to talk to. I'm not sure if the election is over yet, but if the new VR could get ahold of Moe at Dolphin Pumps he sounded interested in learning more about what we are about.

I thought I would give a shout out to Moe at Dolphin Pumps. I have an old Amp Master I got used that has a cracked impeller. I gave them a call to see about getting a new impeller and a seal only to find out that the impeller has been discontinued. Even after I let him know that I had a limited budget, he offered many options and asked lots of questions to make sure what he sold me would not just do the job, but work for years and grow with my system. I ended up getting the Diamond Amp Master 4750-3 for a heck of a good deal. (I didn't go over my budget)(rock2) Moe sounded interested in our club, and we chatted a little about the smaller reef communities, and how helpfull they are to the hobbie. He sent me an email after we got off the phone that I will copy here. I told him I would put our new vendor relations officer in touch with him. I will try and cover the install of this pump in the near future. I wouldn't stress the PH number too much. Alk yes, ph not so much. I have a similar size system with a kalk reactor on my topoff. I dose 5-10 drops each morning of Kent Alk buffer to keep dkh above 8, this also helps the ph. Without dosing the Kent, my dkh would hang at 6-7 and my ph would swing from 7.6-8.2 daily.

Does anyone know of a quality probe with the bnc connector that will work with our controllers. I wouldn't mind spending $100+ if I can get years of service out of it. Seems pointless to spend $40 every 8 months.

How long should a ph probe last? My pinpoint ph probe that is just a year old will not maintain calibration anymore. I thought that pinpoint was a quality brand, is there a better probe to use. I am using it withe an RKE. Thanks in advance. Gabe

I have an SWC 160 cone skimmer for sale. I got it buying a system a little while ago and never got around to using it, just been keeping it as a spare. I would like to get $150 for it. If you decide to do this, plan out everything and order the glass with all the edge finnishes (flat pollish, beveled, etc.), holes cut, and tempering in one package. It will be cheaper, and if they mess up anything it's not your $'s. I priced out the glass to build a starphire 150 last year and I believe it was only $35 bucks to get the bottom panel tempered. Its not as hard as you think, and the size you are thinking about sounds pretty safe. There are plenty of good threads out there on putting together a glass tank. The small cube I built I filled it to the rim and put like 2000 gph of powerheads in it for over a month just to make me feel better about it. Gabe

I cut up an old 55g and made a 18x20x18 rimless. The glass is 5/16. I just bought a tube of black silicone from the LFS. Another reefer down here used 1/2" glass to make a 36x36x24 rimless without any issues.

Monterey or Seattle? We are wanting to take a road trip to one of these two aquariums soon and I am looking for sugestions. I have been to Monterey, but not Seattle. We have family in California and Washington so acomadations shouldn't be an issue. Has anyone here been to both. We have two boys, 2 and 3 1/2. Thanks Gabe

Thanks guys. Drilled my first hole today. 60mm in the side of a 55. Taped a "V" notch guide to the tank and had the hose running across the saw. It was easier than I thought.

I have two different places with yumas up against floridas without issues.

How fast to drill glass? I know to keep it lubed and use a guide hole, but what RPM? Im assuming slow to medium, maybe feel what cuts best. Any input from the experts would be appreciated. Thanks Gabe

Not trying to be a downer, but I would skip this light. I had the 48" version and was not impressed with the quality at all. Every component was cheap. Ballasts, sockets, wiring, Again, not trying to be a downer, but I think you could do a lot better for a little more money. Didn't someone have a tek lite for sale on here? Hope this helps.
