  1. So many good choices.  I’ve reached out to Jeff to order me some Red Sea 160s.

not the best spectrum based on the tests I’ve seen, but exactly the coverage I’m looking for with a good spectrum.

Those combined with the 360x’s should create a nicely blanketed tank with great spectral characteristics.

I have to say I'm very happy and impressed with the Red Sea ReefLED 160S lights. Buy from Cuttlefish. Simple like Kessel, which is my biggest praise. Unless you like having 5 channels to play with for no real reason, I'd highly recommend. And I've had the XR30 Radion (non pro), and 160S blows them away imo.

    Thanks! I’ll check those out.

are you basing that off PAR readings, or visuals?

  3. I’m finalizing planning for the 360 I got from Andrew.

ive got most of the Kessils I’m going to use (8 of them spaced in 2 rows of 4, 2’ apart each).

that won’t be enough light most likely for SPS and clams, so I’m thinking some fixture style lights like 6x radion xr15’s or 3 Orpheks Atlantik’s. These would be places between the Kessil pucks.

this way I could spread par more evenly and kee that beautiful Kessil shimmer.

what are your thoughts on Atlantik vs Radion?

  4. Daaaang 5th in line.   I’ll bribe someone above me with an 8 year old rusted/dried out/non working hammerhead pump if they will switch spots with me.

    Any takers 😜

just think the scrap pricing alone is probably worth $5!!!!

oh, and as always thank you to Jeff for organizing and monitoring this.  Not something he has to do, just does it because he’s awesome.

  5. Alrighty,

It’s almost time to move the new tank in, so I need to offload the existing tank.

150 gallon truvu acrylic tank with steel stand and wood skin.5’x2’x2’ dimensions.

tank is drilled for external overflow.

it needs a good couple hours of buffing and scraping!

I’m  looking for $150 for the whole thing, or free if you are willing to help move the new tank and can bring 2 friends (they could also help move the 150 into your vehicle 😉)

moving date is penciled in for 3/16 but if flexible

  6. Love the idea,  storage usage and logistics of the larger item would be an opportunity area.  Any ideas on pricing?

only major concern I could see would be the liability of a club owned power tool capable of easily removing fingers. any personal injury lawyers on here care to weigh in on this topic?

An individual could buy one in the next six months or so and rent it out for members for a small fee plus hefty deposit.

I've used a chop saw with a metal cutting wheel and it works but it won't come out perfect. I grinder with a Mason cutting wheel will do the same but make sure you use proper protection. Eyes and heavy clothing.gloves maybe.ive found that you have to apply alot of pressure when I used my chop saw,it maybe easier with a grinder n Mason wheel, but that wheel can catch or even break so be prepared in case.good luck. It get really hard if they're thicker then the cut wheel reach ,then you have to try and match the angles if you cut from the other side. Goodluck n be safe

Thanks!   I’m gonna give the angle grinder a try.

They are for sale yes. I have heard of people using a plain hand held wood saw ( that you're not going to use again) but I have not tried that myself

Awesome,  how much are you charging for them?

  9. Dang,  I saw those and thought they were a great idea.  I was hoping you were going to say you cut them so you could give me some tips!  I’m gonna be attempting to cut some with a diamond angle grinder in the next few weeks.

    Are you selling them?
