Honestly, I often wish I had never made this coral an Auction Edition. It's is however great to see how successful aqua-culturing this coral has been. Hopefully it will be around for generations to come!

You should come by the shop and check out some colonies in person. I have a frag wait list you can get on if you are serious about wanting a piece. Although quite a few others have it at this point. I used to provide a personalized certificate of authenticity when someone purchased a piece directly from me but the coral was quickly exploited (Thanks guys. You know who you are) so I bagged that idea. So much for keeping something special.

This is the photo of the Original colony that I showed Steve Tyree when we first discussed making the coral an Auction Edition. This coral was an Indonesian import that I purchased from Rose City. If you look at the bottom of the coral you can see where I made my first frag. That first frag was traded with Perry at Ocean in a box. I have 4 colonies now and have made numerous frags. It's still one of my favorites!

Dude, you are so right it's not even funny. Yet another reason to go with SE bulbs over DE bulbs. I actually really like to run 250w radium SE bulbs with an icecap 400w electronic ballast. They run a bit brighter and I like the color better. I think it shortens the bulb life though.

I believe both Radium and XM make a DE bulb. Phoenix is a good choice too. #3 for me. I definitely prefer mogul base bulbs though.

I found this guy munching on some star polyp. After doing some research I found out it is a common predator of the star polyp. It's called a Phyllodesmium Briareum. It has bright yellow tips on its gills or whatever they are. It also has a symbiotic zoanthelle and can photosynthesize!

I get a horrible allergic reaction to them. My fingers swell up and itch for a couple days. I haven't encountered them since I resigned from my previous employer though. No sand + wrasses in all coral tanks = no bristle worms to be found.
