I worry about only 2 MH on a 120 gallon...I am running 3x 250w MH with 4 pc on my 135gallon and it is barely enough...400w would be too much... DrMerle

Our job is to replicate the most important factors...light and water.... Corals as well as fish need dark cycles...why? Cause it happens everyday at night... I recommend at least 6 hours of complete darkness every night...I've got moonlights but they shutoff@ midnight... DrMerle

lost my family for 2 days when I tore down my 135 and shoveled the 6 year old sand out (which I'm sure was source of nitrate issue)...my head hurt for 5 days after breathing that putrid stench and my daughter slept next door at mother inlaws for 2 days and refused to come back in till smell disappated... I've smelled dead corals, snails, fish and anemones....toxic sand, IMHO, is the worst...I got sick!!! DrMerle

I saw Bob Dylan about 4 years ago @ University of Portland with Merle Haggard...Haggard was great...expected Dylan to be too...25% of people were leaving about 25 minutes into his concert set...we stayed out of respect but it is the worst concert I have ever seen, and I've seen alot...struggled to distinguish audible words and familiar melodies, but to no avail... I think you have purchased one of the finest skimmers on the market...I really believe you won't find one better, especially for the money...I wouldn't trade my MSX200 for anything...having said all that, IMHO, Sicce pumps are total PITA...I could never get them apart, they rattle, clack,...and you haven't even gotten to the restart problems... I researched and researched...I was going to have MSX upgrade a pump for me, and their sales rep said..."here is what people are doing and not regretting it...they are buying Bubble Blasters 3000 and putting them on (they just screw on...don't require any drilling or refitting)" This is the MSX rep talking me out of buying another new pump from him and sending me to another company!! Let me guess....Sicce pump? If so....1) Takes a couple days or so for it to break in 2) most quiet down...a few don't 3) some say pump needs to be horizontal, some say vertical...horizontal is the correct alignment 4) often they have start up issues which most people figure out 5) difficulty in opening up to clean, replace or repair I am a hater of these pumps and replaced mine with a Bubble Blaster 3000...night and day difference... Don't doubt that you purchased a great skimmer...you'll have to decide if you can deal with pump issues... DrMerle

First, let me say I support Sea Shepherds...both in spirit and financially...I believe they are a slightly crazy, fringe group with often lousy methods, but the best of intentions. They take action which is more than I can say for other "conservancy groups"... Having said that, this article by "Snorkle Bob" accusing tank aquarists of being fish killers is a little over the top. I can't imagine how many corals and sensitive areas in the Hawaii waters have been trampled on by Snorkle Bobs rented flippers. Sounds to me like a big advertising push due to his new book... whenever anyone walks past my tank, their hair frizzes up and stands straight up...my kids teeth glow in the dark when the lights are off and they stand near the tank...everytime I stick my hand in the tank, I wake up the next morning across the room with no eyebrows...what could the problem be?
