  1. Just read this after not checking. In for a while. Hmmmmmmm. I would close this thread but I kind of want to be able to post fish update pics in the future. So maybe we could stop the BS. After all, it's just fish!
  2. The ich was allways in the tank and in the tang but there has to be a relation between stress and showing symptoms. First ammonia spike ever, had the fish for a year, the spots show up the next day? That would be quite a coincidence.
  3. They were in hypo allright. Wish all salt tanks were like that I'd save a lot of money on reef crystals! I raised the salinity back up gradually by putting a fan on the water surface and not topping off the fresh water. Got the salinity up close but not all the way and scooped them out. Easy.
  4. Your in, sent you a pm Your in too. Sending amp now
  5. Got one here for you. I think I'm joining in too! Im going to try some new ideas and cut off a little piece for myself. (plotting)
  6. Short answer, gave up. I used a fish trap and caught every fish in my tank except for my scooter blenny. They were all set up in the 40 gallon QT downstairs. Brought everything down to hypo and was set to go. I had a couple problems. 1. I couldnt catch my scooter blenny, I had just gone through the amonia spike scare and there was no way I was going to tear up my rock work to get it. 2. The blenny eats pods and would have died 3. The fish looked miserable in there. The tank would have cycled soon and taken out half of them because I was unprepared. 4. I Was mostly concerned about my clown fish because they were the first fish I ever bought. I think they had a better survival chance in the display than in the uncycled QT. I put all fish back in the tank and continued to feed them heartily. The blue tang which was the only fish with symptoms cleared up in 2 days. They are all fatter and healthier then ever. Now I realize that ich drops off and hatches and re attaches in there life cycle so I'm not blind to the fact that it could come back at any time but my current approach is to see if this is somthing my fish can live with. If not I'm going to take my time and properly cycle a QT before trying that again. And since I had an empty tank all setup and going, I decided use it to cure my dry rock from the brs group buy, nice.
  7. I love it, crazy how one brown piece of coral can be tracked to so many places. I can't remember who's sig this was on but some one has "if you reef with someone, your reefing with everyone they ever reefed with". [language filter] slutty corals.
  8. That is a great piece of info Shawn. I was discouraged when I first read that but I think this just ups the challenge. Hope this isn't a dud.
  9. Tested alk and ca tonight with multiple test kits. Alk 7, ca 350. I'm wondering if my dosing pumps were clogged or somthing because I cleaned everything and I measured out my daily amount and I am dosing 245 ml of each 2 part. Seems like a lot. My total system volume is 150 gallons.
  10. Yeah, I've got about 5 cut pieces left but I could always cut them down smaller to make more. Thanks, it looked a lot better pre snow storm but I'm getting it back in shape. It would probly be best to post on this thread but im going to try to change the name of it to "brown bomber challenge". I was thinking about maybe a picture a month, the more the better though. This ones all about bragging rights, plus the prize is the nicely colored up coral! Agreed, but sometimes there's that that wow factor.
  11. Second challenger added. Reefnjunkie
  12. Man, busy day. Needless to say i never made it to Saltwater fanta seas, let alone lunch. Anyway im certain the alk test is correct because im have 2 differnt bottles i tested from. Both are about an 1/8th full. Now that the tank has had time to stabilize i will test when i get home. Another factor is that its been awhile since i adjusted my doser. I should run bank 3 in a cup at the same schedule and see exactly how many ml of solution im pumping in the tank.
  13. Agreed. But I think that me over dosing alk is what caused the precipitation. I just don't know how to balance everything out.
  14. I'm using the elos kit which I'm almost out of. I think I'm going to run over to swf to get another kit and maybe I'll have them run some tests too while I'm there.
  15. Havnt tested mag, I've never had to dose magnesium before. It never drops. The calcium I tested on Saturday. It was 430.
  16. I dose 2 part from BRS in my system and accidentally let the alk solution run out. Over the course of a day my alk dropped from 9 to 6. I used the reef calculator and have been adding extra to get back up to 9 but it doesn't want to go over 8. I decided to give an extra quarter cup dose last night and after 15 minutes the water was so milky you could not see tough it. Checked this morning and everything's fine but there is a white hard film on all the glass surfaces. Anyone have any suggestions?
  17. Sounds good, I'll be around in the evenings and weekend. If this were a zoa I would call it "Ultra Herseys Kiss".
  18. Allright, game on. Frank has started it off and picked up the first one. Good luck.
  19. How does that work with naming a coral, is it a newly discovered coral? Did Travis somehow change the coloring of an existing? Very curious how this works.
  20. Sure do! First one is getting picked up tonight. I'll post names of people who are participating as they get there frag. I'll gladly take it back, I like everyone's supreme confidence.
  21. It works! No prob, this should be interesting.
  22. That sounds fine. Reserve two. I will start posting names of people who have picked up on the first page as well. How do I reply to multiple quotes on the same post? Anyone?
  23. I could help make room (whistle)
  24. Your in. Pm me if you want to pick up. I'm around most evenings and weekends.
