  1. i should have been more clear. take a new razor blade and drag it almost flat on one corner of the blade. If you get a very thin peel of plastic it is plastic, if it does nothing it is glass.
  2. scratch it with a razor blade to see.
  3. Wow, I was sort of chuckling reading this until I just read that last post by the seller, now I'm full on laughing. Good luck on the sale. Sorry you can't grow sps.(whistle)
  4. Skateboarding, raising my daughters and this was my last project:
  5. I really like the open brain, looks like it could get even more color still, nice
  6. The UVs alone put off an extrely eerie grow. Heres some haunted coral funhouse pics.
  7. It's just one and I've had it for a while. I wonder why it never touches the nice juicey wellsophilia? Oh well, I'll try to take out the angel. Thanks.
  8. Noooooooooo!!! I guess it doesn't matter that I've never seen nipping ever?
  9. Hmmmmmm, a coral beauty. Why do you ask?.....
  10. I don't think that's it because I've had them off isolated on the sand bed. My fungia is not looking so hot either.
  11. I've got lots of differnt types all doing well in high light high flow and in display I've tried them in high, low medium you name it. This is pre and post led and its not a matter of color loss as much as tissue loss and death. It's really bugging me.
  12. I can rule out warfare. I have placed them near and away and all over. In the frag tank which they are doing well in they are crammed in like sardines. Flow is strong in that tank and they are getting blasted with 20k 250 watt mh. I thought that acans liked low flow and low light.
  13. Situation handled. Thanks to everyone who responded! In the mean time, great tip. I'm going to bake me up some baking soda.
  14. Im trying to figure out why my acans never do well in my display tank. Every time I've tried they slowly recede and fade and shrivel up over time. In my frag tank (which is plumbed into the same system) they flourish, all plumped up and bright. Anyone have any ideas, just moved a really nice acan lord and purple green up and onto the sand bed under shade of a rock the other day and they don't look happy.
  15. Just need 2 cups to mix up a jug full, if anyone has a larger container they aren't planning on using I would gladly buy though.
  16. Anyone in portland have any brs soda ash i could buy? Just realized I was at the last of mine and my alk has dropped to 6 in a day. Poor planning.DOH!
  17. I don't have any blues, just royal blues. Blues would be a great idea to fill in those 6 slots.
  18. This kit was much easier, it came with stick on thermal pads enstead of glue or grease. It was also drilled and tapped. I've got 6 unused slots so I could get crazy and add some cyan or other colors to mess with. Important tip, don't try to tin your LEDs when the are attached to the heatsink, they don't heat up and it doesn't work. I had to take them all off. Kind of a pain.(flame)
  19. Just got a chance to check out this build. That's great, can't wait to see a video of some foam action.
  20. UV kit came today. I got the pre tapped heatsink so this should be a breeze to put together. Wow I'm up to 84 LEDs, not including Reefkeeper moonlight. Hope this isn't overkill.
  21. I've seen sales on marine depot for $38 for 250 watt Phoenix bulbs. Can't beat it.
  22. Kind of depends on what you "need". There's lots of good projects out there. I would just scroll though the DIY forums and see what others have done all ready.
  23. +1 on the Phoenix 14k. It's a bluer bulb than a normal 14k. It's always better to support your local shop and buy from them but online will always have the best price. Buy back ups and change them out regularly. I wouldn't recommend buying used bulbs. What size I'd your tank?
