    ID help

Looks like a chalice not an acan, am I missing something?
  2. First thing I looked up after I read this thread. Ha. Looks like a fun project, can't wait to see some jellies.......or a thread labeled "breaking down the jelly". :p jk What the mod?
  3. Just did this not long ago. Removing rocks should be fine as long as you go slow and try not to stir up the sand bed too much. Turn all your pumps off. Mix up some water and do a water change after the rock moving. If you have a carbon reactor, you might want to run some carbon for a day after. I took out a bunch of rock from my tank and relocated it into the sump. This was the best thing I've done for my tank so far, let's it breath, increases flow throughout and lessens dead spots in the tank.
  4. Wow, I'll be there, great prizes! Hmmmm what a great excuse to drive up and see the inlaws that weekend.
  5. What kind of suggestions were you looking for as far as the reefkeeper?
  6. I like the new selection. The verde going to be nice
  7. Sorry to hear that, mine on the other hand had changed dramatically. It has a burnt umber base that fades gently into a cool nutmeg. Vibrant russett polyps and finishes with bright khaki tips. Most amazing coral I have ever come across.
  8. Yes, I've got a couple left. Had two no shows so if anyone else want in. Let me know. Here's the piece I'm keeping.
  9. Hold on to your hat Randall, check this out(nutty) http://www.saltysupply.com/Bubble-King-DeLuxe-650-Internal-p/vx1151.htm
  10. Im sure I'm the last person to learn this DOH!and tell me if im stating the obvious but gluing frags underwater works very well for certain cases. I must have been really bored because I was watching a frag gluing video from ecotech and they show different ways to apply frags underwater. I found this technique works really well when using the classic runny small tubes of super glue. Underwater they ball up perfectly and stay in place. Great for gluing tiny frags and plugs That don't have a hole to sit in while the glue cures. The ecotech glue looks great but give me dollar tree gel all day. Here's the vid I watched. http://ecotechmarine.com/media-gallery/video/coral-glue-mov/
  11. T5's are proven to be amazing at growing SPS, the colors the produce are incredible. Just look at how many totm's are t5. But........I gots to have my shimmer.
  12. Tank looks great, nice clean plumbing. Might be a good idea to attach some thin black acrylic pieces to walls of the refugium to keep algae and other growth off the other chambers. Look forward to seeing this tank grow.
  13. DIY led is the way to go, but it can be deceptively expensive. No regrets here.
  14. Looks like a mushroom anenome to me.
  15. Awesome, nice score John. It's got the right owner
  16. Looks like a great start. Is there going to be a sump? What are you planning on stocking?
  17. When I decided to go with a dosing pump I got the eBay Chinese one "marine magic". That way i wouldnt feel too bad about the money if i went a differnt direction. It's been great except when I let the solution run out.DOH! anyway, I'm hooked on dosing pumps and I was going to throw down for the profilux but now I'm thinking the heavy duty BRS ones are the way to go for the long term.
  18. No end to the cockiness, I love it. (rock2) Jeramy just picked up and is now on the list. I really don't have much of a plan for the time table so if everyone wants to do a first check-in in 45 days I'm down. I'm going to mount my frag tonight right up top and blast it wit the MP40. We shall see...
  19. Shaun picked up today, going to give it round two. Just a couple left!
  20. Nice to meet you kriz2fer, officially added to the list.
  21. Budget? Yikes, too afraid to total it up. Probly should though. Really looking forward to seeing these numbers.
  22. I have names on the first page of the 2 people who have picked up so far. As far as time line, that's a good point. 6 month? Too long? Too short? I'm open to opinions. As you can tell this is a very well thought out, strict challenge . As for pick up, I have 2 people scheduled to come by Tomarrow so it would be a good day for it, I'll send you a pm.
