  1. There was more to that quote, I sound really evil in your version.
  2. I finished my prop tank project today and thought i would share some pictures. I ended up running water off a T on the main pump. Not sure how much turn over I'm getting but I have it opened as far as the drain can handle. The ball valve going to main display tank is still not open all the way, this pump has some major power for the money. I set up a 250 watt halide fixture above with an opposite lighting schedule as the main running 8 hours. I'm wondering how far off the water i should hang the light and if it would be a good idea to add a fish or two. If anyone has any input it would be much appreciated.
  3. You have inspired me to....................wait and see what happens with your tanks(laugh). Hope it goes well!
  4. It was really nice meeting everyone! I wish i could have stayed longer. Ill be looking out for the next one!
  5. Gotcha. Yeah ive got plenty of room, the sump is at least 14 feet below the return so i left enough .
  6. I'm plumbing in a 36g shallow frag tank to my sump and I'm wondering what size pump/ how much water turnover I will need and how do i measure that? I was thinking about T'ing off my return pump which is a pcx40. The tank I got has a 1" inlet and 2x 1" drains already installed so I was going to use that setup which would gravity drain back to the sump.
  7. I'm going to stop by at around 6:30, I just joined pnwmas officially last month so I don't know anyone but I look forward to it!
  8. what about basting them while in the dip?
  9. BRS reactor, half carbon half GFO. So cheap, very very effective.
  10. You ever hear someone talking about lice and you can not help but scratch your own head? I feel that way about aefw. Can you see them? Or are the super duper small?
  11. maybe residual soap from a washing machine? that's probably not good. Im not sure what skimmer you are using but im not talking about pump speed. You should have some way of adjusting air flow, one way the water level rises in the cone, the other it goes down.
  12. Could you post what water tests you have done so far and what your readings are? Assuming depth is correct and everything is mechanically sound on the skimmer, try cleaning out the collection cup, re installing it and then cranking up the flow on the skimmer so you are intentionally over flowing it, take out the stopper and let it flow back to the sump. Leave it like this for an hour or so and see if this helps. Its worked for me in the past.
  13. What about circulating it in bleach water?
  14. I got some rock from a nice guy who torn down his tank due to multiple bouts with velvet. I'm planning on using this rock some time in the distant future and Im wondering what the best way is to make it dry dead rock. And obviously destroy and velvet on the rocks. Anyone dealt with this?
  15. My wife works for a similar Non profit and they just got a new car donated from Toyota. I'll go vote right now!
  16. Ah the pidder padder of four thousand micro claws. Great video!
  17. almost looks like feather duster tubes, hard to say with that picture though.
  18. I'm in the process of setting up a proper frag tank but in the mean while i filled the magnet tray up.
  19. I like the BSi ic-gel. I see it at most shops. I was trying to find a bulk suppy last night online because some shops are charging $15 a tube which is crazy for a tube of glue.
  20. Tank looks great Matt, did you make that frag rack your self?
  21. Make the refugium 1/3 of the tank. Then dry fit the skimmer and other filtration equipment and leave a bit of room for service and removal. The rest of the space can be used for the return, there are a lot of factors that can determine evaporation, a top off is going to be a good idea down the road. As far as height of the baffles you just want the most water volume in the tank without overflowing when the return is shut off.
  22. Good luck! post a picture when its up.
  23. Glad I went to barrier reef! Awesome shop with friendly smart staff. Wish they were in Portland.
