Thanks folks, Ill see about retesting stuff, my calcium kit is pretty new. PH is not though. Any thoughts on the light issue. Will light bulbs cause that are going bad do that?

So I have not been around much lately, holidays, work, everything. But over the last month I have almost completly lost my neon green and purple birdsnests that I was so proud of. Almost a complete set of white skeletons. I have tested every test I have, nothing is out of whack. Did a hefty water change last week. No it seems a few of my montis are losing color, not really dying but not bright anymore. Im starting to think it might be the cheap bulbs I bought. Running 3 250watt hallides. About 6 months ago I replaced the bulbs with the ebay ones that were 20 bucks a piece. More of a test than anything. Well up until about 2 months ago all my corals responded really well, gots tons of growth. So I guess my question would be, will lights falling off that quick kill sps? Also, if the corals respond well to new cheap bulbs, is it better to just replace the cheap bulbs more often or fork out the 180-200 bucks for bulbs that are better but only last 9-12 months. Seems like kinda a wash to me. Do ushios and the other name brand fall off so quickly? Like to get some solid input on this. I got to spring for some bulbs soon and I want to try and not lose any thing else.

So today has been about me ending my vacation playing Call of Duty Black Ops. Much to my wifes dislike. But when you wait for a game for so long its kind of a build up. Anyway, so I finally removed my butt from my chair to go fix my kid some dinner since the wife went to a blazer game with the other kid. I heat up some food, walk over to gander at the tank and notice that my most prized green birdsnest has tipped over and came unglued from its rock. I notice a couple of branches got broke. So I pluck out the broken branches and glue them down(no biggie, frags right?). I then pull my birdsnest out and remove the rock and begin to reglue and put some new putty around the base. Well this is the part that makes me want to throw up. I FREAKIN DROPPED IT:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: managing to brake about 50% of the branches into tiny little pieces all over the floor. Its making me sick writing this. So any how, I got the main coral back in place looking very sad, glued up as many frags as I had stuff to frag with. and was left with a small hand full of 1/4-1/2 inch pieces that I could do nothing with, so I tried to tuck them into rocks here and there. Im so disgusted with myself. I know its not a spendy coral, but it is one of my first that I was so proud to have grown from a 1" frag to a nice show piece.

Im sorry bout your boys, i feel your pain, but I still love to see the downfall of the cowgirls.

Thats awesome coraline growth. Some people hate it, some love it. Personally I love it. I soak my powerheads in vinegar every couple months to clean them up. About a 24 hour soak and they look and run like new. Looks nice. Sorry to hear about your trigger in the other tank. I love my pair of bluethroats, would be devistated if something happened to them.

Well I seem to have a bristle worm invasion going on. Every time I move something I find bristle worms, I can see them out in the open all the time in the fuge as well. Found this guy today, about 3 inches long. Seems my RBTA either didnt like the light or did. That or the skunks irritated it. Split twice last night, so I have 3 in each tank now. Anyone have good ideas for coaxing them off rocks? Need to unload a couple. And lastly, went to Seahorse today and Woody had a pretty awesome shipment of Hawaiian fish in. Couple I have never actually seen in a store before. Against my better judgment and the fact that we lost our family favorite cubicus a while back I got a very small female Spotted boxfish(Ostracion meleagris). Woody had a bunch of males and females. If I come across a small male I will more then likely pick one up. Says "reef safe" with caution. Since I dont have much in there yet I will have to see how she does. Biggest concern is the toxin they can secrete if over stressed or dying. But its rare. This could be the cutest fish I have seen, about 1-1.5". Sorry lousy pic. Already a healthy eater and a bit of a spaz. About 100 times faster then my cubicus was.
