Today was Christmas in August! I've been wanting a Vortec for a long time. Well I had a couple hundred in my PalPal account from selling a Dale Earnhardt die cast car & finally got a MP10ES. Why did I wait so long????? I'm a tad confused though (nothing new there) the box says MP 10ES... But the driver says MP 10W. So did I get a wireless setup? at any rate I really like it. I have it on my BC29 & I am running it on "reef crest" mode.

Your right. The moonlights however are doing a pretty good job with growth. I just have to match them to the lunar cycle

I went with stevesleds.com lights for my BC29. I got the plug & Play version for 2 reasons, #1) I wasn't comfortable wiring up the LED's #2) Time Savings. When you get the Plug & Play they have everything all wired up, fan mounted, & most importantly to me is they calibrate they main power supply so it's at maximum efficiency for longer LED life. One drawback is that the dimmers do not come with knobs. I got a pack of 4 @ Radio Shack for like $3.00. I REALLY like the lights. I'm getting a real nice shimmer of light on my rocks & sandbed & that's running them on low. I took the temp. of the top of my cover using my digital heat gun & it was 125 degrees with the stock lighting. I took it with the LED's & it was 81 degrees (disclaimer, they were running on low power, but I don't expect a whole lot more heat when I work my way up to more light) for another $25.00 I got their Moonlight kit. It's pretty cool, It has 16 selectable colors, 8 different intensities of light & a remote control. Next is a Vortec MP10. Now on to a bunch of pics! THE KIT AS SHIPPED ALL ASSEMBLED I USED A PIECE OF LEFT OVER FAN SHROUD (that you remove) & MOUNTED THE DIMMER'S WHERE THE STOCK LIGHT SWITCHES WERE TOP OF THE HOOD WITH DIMMER KNOBS. I PAINTED ONE BLUE & LEFT THE OTHER SILVER SO I'D KNOW WHICH IS WHICH WOO HOO THEY WORK!! TANK SHOT, LIGHTS ON LOW BLUE MOONLIGHTS RED MOONLIGHTS GREEN MOONLIGHTS MOONLIGHT REMOTE CONTROL

I just put a stevesleds.com unit on my BC29. I really like it. The guys over at nano reef sold me on it. I'm getting really nice shimmer on my rocks & sandbed & get good coverage with the lights & I'm only running them at less than 50%.

When I treated for ICH, I just put my 6 line Wrasse (he was the only survivor) in my Q/T & did a hypo salinity treatment & let my display go fallow for 8 weeks. I left all my coral & inverts (including a RBTA) in the display while it went fallow. That was about a year ago & so far so good (knocking on wood) It's tempting to shorting the fallow cycle when everything is looking good. DON'T. Longer is better. Good luck!

Weekend bump

My wife bought me a 2 Little Fishy's Julians Thing for my birthday (does it count as a present if she didn't know she bought it until it showed up in the mail? worked for both of us really(laugh)) I rather like it for target feeding Coral. Much easier than a turkey baster. I like how the food only goes into the tip & you can shoot however much you want with the syringe.

I'm selling my 40B. It's drilled with a Glass-Holes 750gph overflow, 20gal sump, BRS media reactor, Reef Ocotopus NWB100 skimmer, T5 4 bulb lights with ATI bulbs that are only a couple months old. The stand is built with 2"x4"'s all joints were pocked drilled & glued the floor has vinyl flooring there's a door on the left side & 2 in front & a GFI plug in mounted in the rear of the stand & a multi strip power outlet that has a shut off for plug in. It's a really stout stand. There's about 70lbs of real nice rock that's covered with zoa's & mushrooms. $300.00 for everything or if your interested I'll part it out but I'd really like to sell the rock first. I'll let the rock go for $2.00 a lb!

Today was our 30th wedding anniversary. Well last night my wife tells me she has a surprise planned & the alarm is set for 2:30am. So this morning we head out, Me still not having a clue what's in store for us. Well we ended up at the Aurora airport, I'm thinking...a scenic sunrise flight?.... no better yet. She booked a 2 1/2 hr Hot Air Balloon flight! it was AMAZING!!!! it's something I've wanted to do for years. After the flight we had a brunch with Mimosa's at the airport(part of the flight package). It was perfect.

We have not fired up the oven since we got the Traeger. I've cooked ribs (amazing!) wood fired pizza (amazinger!) thick juicy pork chops, Pork Roast (I also ran out of pellets Beth. But caught it before the temp dropped 20 degrees) Carne Asada (way better than gas grilled) next up is cedar plank Salmon. I got a digital thermostat off the website for $70.00 no tax or shipping (sale ends 8/1) that makes it really easy. One of my co workers called Traegers the crock pot of grills. Set it & forget it!

Just out of curiosity Brad. What make you like the rapid kit better?

Well I finally joined the Traeger club yesterday. I found a guy on craigslist that either was or still is a dealer & got a Jr brand new still in the box with a cover & 2 bags of pellets for $290.00. I can't wait to burn it in grill some ribs. A co worker said the guy he bought his from said season it by cooking a pound of bacon, it's like heating & oiling a Dutch oven.

Glad the Tang is doing good. I'm sold on those LED's for my cube after seeing those.
