  1. I read your posts before they were deleted. I think you are really close to what you originally posted. I don't believe anything you said warranted being deleted as if it never existed. I think if someone was offended by your statements then they should have brought that to your attention. The attempt at censorship is only making things worse. Bad business.(nono)

    T-5 question

OK, I looked at the ballast. It says it will take 1 or 2 54w. That settled i would like to get some opinions on bulbs. I like the geisemann bulbs as I have heard a lot of good things about them. I am currently running two 400w 14k MH. What would be a good complement to these? I opted for 14k on my last mh bulb change because I was tired of it looking like the mother ship had landed in my living room. I would like to get a little of the blue color back in my tank though.

    T-5 question

I have a roockie question on lighting. I purchased a fixture used. It has two 400w MH and two t-5's. It is time to replace the T-5's but I do not know if they are HO or standard. The only marking on the tube is Pacific Coast Imports. Does it matter what I replace them with. I read that the Icecap 660 ballast can run VHO's, T-8's and t-5's. So do I just need to make sure I don't exceed the wattage for my ballast? I have not looked at the ballast(not easy to get at).
  5. I have two tiger tails. They get around the pretty good and the piles of sand poo are the best looking sand in my tank.
  6. I believe Jason at Coral Reef Pet Center usually has a couple of these guys available. I got one from him about a year ago and I love. Great fish.
  7. Hi all, Just thought I would share my 5 hrs without power last night. With some hints that I had read from here in the past I knew about floating 2 litre botles full of hot water to keep the temp up. This worked great. The temp had dropped from 78f to 76f in my 80 gallon tank. I floated two bottles and the temp came right back up. The room temp was 63f at that time. I also wrapped blankets all the way around the tank and covered the top with another blanket. This combination held the temp at 78 for the duration of the outage. If I used all the hot water from the tank my plan was to heat some water on the BBQ(outside of course). Thankfully it was not an extended period of time. I do believe that this would have held the temp at an acceptable range for quite some time though. Hope everyone is doing ok through this weather.
  8. Oh yea, Pics please (clap).
  9. Welcome, I run my t-5 actinics for 12 hrs and my Metal halides for 10hrs. Some run less. I would not worry about the algea crop you have comeing on now. That is a typical part of the new tank cycle.
  10. Welcome, I am in the process of doing a 10g nano myself. I have thread started that shows my progress but more importantly has a lot of great ideas from fellow members. Check it out. http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9374 I love the 20 long for the nano. It is a great little tank that gives lots of simple lighting and filtration options. Good luck and be sure to start a thread for the tank itself and keep us updated on your progress.

    10g nano

I have some at home I will try to put on later. Not very good because my camara is an old 3 pixel point and shoot. The pictures of the 10G are all from my crackberry. I think it takes better pictures(not really but close).

The light is a 24" current orbit dual 65w. I got it off e-bay for $47.90 including shipping!(rock2) Might be a little overkill but I couldn't pass it up. The down side is the led lunar lights are not working. The power cord seems to be cut. Hope I can fix this sometime in the future. If anyone knows anything about the LEDs and/or these fixtures some info would be appreciated. The rock in question came out of my 80G and not only covered in Coraline but has many hitchhikers so I am getting some good stuff in there. I think I might have to get a couple snails and a scarlet hermit or two to start things off.

  15. I love it, but my wife finds it creapy.
  16. Don't think I will make the meeting but maybe we could hook up before.
  17. I would love a little piece but all I have for trade right now is Kenya tree and pulsing xenia. Let me konw if that works.
  18. There is a paint called POR15 that is used in the automotive industry. They claim you can paint this directly over rust. It is suposed to be extremely durable and is used on the frame and axles and so on. This may be something to look into. Might be a little over kill. Heres the web page. http://www.por-15.com/
  19. I have heard that the T-5 bulbs can go for 18 months. Not sure on that just what I have heard. I know some people change bulbs in cycles like you are talking about. It is little easier on the pocket book. I would think that changing a few at a time would be better for the corals, you are not hitting them with all new bulbs at one time and greatly increasing the intensity of the light they are receiving. I think some pictures before and after the new bulbs would be great so we can see the color difference.
  20. I have one of these urchins in my 80g. Don't really notice the loss of coraline but my tank produces it well.
  21. I change my MH at 12 months. I hear eggcrate is good to difuse. I have a hanging fixture so I just raise mine a few inches and then drop them down over a few weeks.
