  1. go talk to Joel, from what I can tell, he is just getting started on building glass tanks. They look great though. Go check the 60g rimless cube he has running at his shop! I saw a 48x24x24 that he built as well (same size I want). He gave me a rough quote of $1100 with 3 sides of starfire. I'm sure the price would really depend on what you wanted done though.
  2. I saw your tank at waves, I have really been thinking about having joel build me a tank too!
  3. shouldn't be a problem to leave your tank for 4-5 days as long as you have an ATO and reliable timer for your lights. Fish can go a long time without food.
  4. I'll take take one, are you available on Thursday?
  5. Sam, the problem is the size of the fixture. I will be lucky to fit the Lumenmax 2. I really want to keep at least 2 of my VHO actinics, so as it is now the VHOs will slightly underlap under the reflector. How will that effect the output of the reflector? Right now I have 4 24" VHO actinics with 1 250w MH and a very small worthless reflector.
  6. Opps....meant to put this in the WTB section. Mods, please move it.
  7. I am limited on space in my canopy, but think I have come up with a way to fit one of these Lumenmax 2 reflectors over my tank. I don't necessarily want to purchase a new one, cause I'm not even sure if it will work out how I want it to. Im looking for the SE bulb version. If your looking to upgrade to the Lumenmax Elite, heres your chance for me to off set some of the cost. Heres a pic of what Im looking for: Let me know!
  8. Well, thanks to Garrett, my tank is offically full. I made another trip down today to get another colony and several more " frags" My fish keep looking at me with a "[language filter]" look cause I keep taking their swimming space.... Time for a bigger tank Thanks again Garrett!
  9. I'm already ready to go take another look! I hope he still has something left by the next time I can make it down to Salem!
  10. Are you going to part it out? I might be interested in the skimmer and reactor...
  11. I think it really depends on your system, how much live rock you have, and how "cured" the rock is. Test your water often, and track it. I waited about 4 weeks until I added my first corals (Hammer head, mushrooms, and zoes) to my 36g bowfront (50 total gallons of water with sump). I added my first fish (2 clowns) at the 8 week mark. I started with 60-70 lbs of live rock from The Seahorse. I tested Ammonia, Nitrates, and Nitrites every day for the first 4 weeks, but ever detected a spike in anything. Im guessing its was because all of my rock and sand was from a very well established system.
  12. Thanks for all of the comments, guys! Heres of pic of them acclimating...you can really see the shape of the corals.... Notice how the blue milli is in two pieces...It accidentally broke, so I glued it back together. It seems to be really strong, hopefully it will last until it grows back together! I also had enough broken tips to get a frags worth of the blue and pink milli!
  13. I picked a few corals up from Garrett yesterday! Im really excited about them, they are definitely the highlight of my tank! Glad I made the trip down to Salem to meet up with Garrett! He seems like a great guy, and has an awesome setup (too bad hes tearing it down (sad) ) Blue Stag: Metal Halide & VHO Actinics Just actinics Its very hard for my camera to capture the actual color of this stag, its a very bright aqua blue. Blue Milli No lights Metal Halide & VHO Actinics Just actinics ORA Pink or Rose Milli No Lights Metal Halide & VHO Actinics Just actinics A few other pics of the new corals A couple full tank shots
  14. In my opinion, the seahorse is great. Its my favorite shop in town. I think they got a bad rap a few years back, but are being managed by Issac and Cherri now and made it into a very reputable shop. 99% of my fish/corals/live rock came from the Seahorse. In my mind, it goes: Seahorse Waves Upscales Not necessarily because of selection, but because of Customer Service. When I was starting my tank and literally knew nothing about reef tanks, Issac was the only one in town willing to actually talk to me and give me advice rather then sell me something.
  15. Waves have a few about the size of mine right now that looked healthy. I was very picky when I bought mine. I got it from Seahorse, and waited 4 months for the right one to come it that was the right size and healthy looking. The fins on both of my tanks are nearly perfect. I dont like raggedy fins! (scratch)
  16. Watch out for the tang police, but I have 2 tangs in my 36g bowfront! A very small blue & very small yellow. I have had the blue for 7 months now and the yellow for 3 months. I feed very heavily, and I have seen no growth in either of them. They seem to be very happy and stress free! Dont tell my girlfriend, but I bought them in hopes of them growing out of my tank! Its a good excuse to upgrade!!! (whistle) Heres the only decent pics I have handy of them. Its very hard to get decent pics of them, especially together.
  17. I saw all of the Koles at Waves the other day as well...They all look very healthy. If I had room, I would buy one!

    New Coral pics!

Thanks! All but one or two of them started as frags, my tank has been up and running since may.

    New Coral pics!

Thanks! All but one of them started as small frags, and are growing like crazy! I started it as a "mixed reef" but am leaning more and more towards SPS!

    New Coral pics!

I discovered my digital camera has macro, so I finally got some okay pics of my corals... These pics were taken wht the lights off and a flash.
  21. The Seahorse is great! My GF even likes going in there...which is saying a lot since she wont even step foot in any of the other reef stores around! We're going in there later today! I hope to get some superman montipora (if they have any left)!

Nice looking frag, reefboy! From the pics I have seen, all of the ORA frags have amazing color! Do any shops in the Portland area stock the ORA frags, I would love to get some!
