  1. We didn't actually try getting it in, my friends looked and measured and said nope... Now think it's worth trying the stand on it's end after I remove the handrail and door Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  2. In the middle of moving, found out I can't fit 72 bowfront s or the stand for my other tank through the door. Can I pay one of you to build me a sturdy 2x4 stand for a tank with a footprint of 24x48"? This would be raw wood, I have to have it in pieces to get it through the door. Bowfront has to go along with giant green polyp tyree toadstool and red sea zebra tang, sinularia, will see what else. Was supposed to be done moving by Friday. Ha. Can't leave the tanks long, I don't live there anymore and it's super hot. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  3. Well I should also mention that the neighbors at both the old place and the new one are tweakers, so I have to watch my back especially at the old place. Will try and line up a couple extra dudes to guard the truck. August is not bringing out the best in the local addicts Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  4. Zoas, softies, ricordeas, sunset mushrooms, Duncan, and some of the montiporas and acros are looking fine Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  5. I have to work next weekend so might have to do it mid week, but hopefully I won't need help for very long as can get everything into the stock tub and buckets. If my bed hasn't been moved yet would be awesome to get that done too. Am planning on giving frags but having some dieoff. Think it's due to lack of water changes, skimmer wasn't functional and temperature spikes. Doesn't look like RTN or anything, but you might want to wait on sps frags. 6. I am moving from 83rd and Tolman SE to 101st and Henry (1 block north of Foster very close to I-205) and am stalled out on the heavy stuff. My back was already bad, and is hosed from moving a few 20 longs so know I can't push it any further. Don't suppose a couple strong folks would be willing to huck my glass 72 bowfront to the new place? I would remove the animals to a rubbermaid bin before you guys arrive and put the substrate in buckets, mainly need help with the glass, sump, and sand. The rest I will probably take slowly as assuming the substrate move will spike the ammonia. I work next saturday and sunday but that is it. Also need help with a tank and stand I have dry in the garage, tank weighs like 20 lbs (acrylic) but the stand is heavy. If I can get that into the basement first I can use it to mix saltwater for the bowfront. A bunch of my non fishy friends and family members have offered to help with this job but I had one give up after getting a 20 in his car and the others won't understand about not scratching acrylic or needing to hustle with the sand so it doesn't crash. There is a van I can borrow. Anyone up for this kind of work? I will give you frags if you want... also have a mature healthy male melanurus wrasse who needs a new home as I have 3.
  7. I did a fill in shift at World of Wet Pets in Beaverton and talked to some people with big tanks who rent. They said no suburban complex has ever cared, and it's just the central Portland landlords who are being exclusive, which they are doing in general, for instance despite the newly legalized smoking product many landlords are excluding smokers of every kind, they are not allowed to live in their buildings AT ALL. Market is so tight they can make any demanding exclusion that suits them. So... suburbs. They are also much quieter and tend to be cheaper in general. Good luck with the move!
  8. Hi, I've been off the forum for a while, wondering who is the current contact for me to refer a teacher to? I was working temporarily at World of Wet Pets while staff were at a convention this week, a teacher came in who recently moved here. She has a partial setup for a nano (think it's a 12 gallon biocube) and is going to set it up at King Elementary. She needs substrate, rock, a light (thinking LED) not sure what else. I got her name and number for the contact person, she also needs help getting on the forum. Also I am now working at Arata Creek School, it's a lot like Pioneer and we are not allowed to have glass tanks for safety nor saltwater, wondering if TFT has a small plastic or acrylic tank they would be willing to set aside for a freshwater shrimp tank in a classroom? I know this is a saltwater forum, so understand if not. We have a flimsy little plastic thing from Goodwill, but I would rather see a nano made of real acrylic, less than 10 gallons if possible but heavy enough for a kid to have difficulty throwing it, or at least over the 2 gallons we have in case they shut off the heat for vacations. Hoping to put black sand in it, I can provide decor, sponge filter, plants and shrimp. Does not need lighting more complicated than a standard screw in PC or LED light bulb, probably needs a decent submersible heater and definitely a lid. Not sure I have a spare air pump.
  9. Most corporate management companies exclude aquariums, even small ones, at least in Portland. Watch out for pet rent, they may charge per animal even if it's a fish. Is Skulls and Sparrows still on here? I don't know if he was in an apartment or condo when I met him or if he was allowed big tanks, but he was at least allowed something. That was not in Portland but a suburb though. My experience was you are better off in a room in a house or a small private owned and managed apartment complex, or maybe a duplex, especially if you can get the basement, as the pro management companies mostly say no but the little guys might say yes. Also it can get really hot here, and roommates don't always understand why the AC needs to be on when noone is home, so basements are great both for minimizing damage if the tank leaks and for keeping everything cool if you go with the room in a house deal. You also might have better luck in a suburb, Portland's rental market is very tough unless you can afford premium units. Good luck with it and keep trying!
  10. I am about to move my SPS tank... well it will probably be a week to 10 days actually. Anyhow I know there will be tons of frags. Likely subjects are an acro that grows tall and for some people is pine green with blue tips for me is the color of a cornflower blue crayola crayon with browning at the base, think it's called Rufous, an unnamed lavender to brown staghorn type, orange Monti digitata and Idaho Grape branching/plating Monti for sure, pink millepora, and a purple tabling acro from ORA I can't remember the name for. Likely also to have purple rim green, orange and apple green plating monti and yellow rim scrolling Turbinaria.
  11. Garret, I am interested... especially the cube but the other too. Want to PM me prices? Markvo, is the oak stand black? I should have been more specific, hoping the stand will be black so the different tanks and furniture at least sorta look like I was trying to make things match. Probably being too picky for summertime tank shopping, it's pretty dry right now.
  12. running out of time... so am thinking of buying new and don't go to fish stores much anymore. Anyone know which shops have the best selection of tanks? Looking for drilled with a stand that is not made of particle board or other cheap materials.
  13. I'll ask again... running only one reef tank and one quarantine sounds awesome to me at this point.
  14. Got photos of the furniture? What is the stand made of? I am moving and looking for more like a 120 partly because landlord is ok with smaller tanks... I can have a total of 300 gallons in the house just not all in the same tank. But I will ask, cause running only one reef sounds awesome.
  15. Am curious to know if anyone else is losing SPS... could be a coincidence but am wishing I had shut all the windows last night as the house filled with this awful fug of fireworks smoke, which contains copper, antimony, all kinds of fun particles, and that I had shut off the air intakes to the skimmers. Just curious if any others are seeing spikes in SPS mortality. I'd blame it on the weather but that tank is LED lit and has been 79-81 this whole time, however I have reduced lighting dramatically so the reduced photoperiod may be to blame as well. Thoughts? Observations?
  16. home owner nixed the 180 but I can have a 120 and a 72! Ha.
  17. do you have photos of the stand and hood if there is one, and the design of the sump? Also wondering what materials the stand and hood are made out of
  18. should have asked this earlier... what is the stand made from? Can see the hood is wood...
  19. cool, what's a good day to come look it over? I don't have my new house for a few weeks, can you store it there? I have a place I could store it but hate to move that much glass 2x, since I have to ask others to help, I sure can't lift that
  20. Looks good, am assuming you still need to sell livestock? Don't suppose you want to help move it?
  21. A drilled 180 would be amazing but I would be scared to use old school overflows on a tank that big... also not sure the 180 would be approved by the homeowner. Have to check. Basically I will either have a 72 and a 120 or a 180... i like to be able to separate out things if they sting or are getting nibbled. Yeah, am more than ready to get out of here. The neighbors are still awful (what can I say it's 83rd and Duke) and the floors are not getting any stronger. I even turn over in bed and the tank in the bedroom wobbles. The water line on the 72 is now over an inch lower at the end that extends to the center of the dining room. This house has had it's ups and downs and been either great or terrible, but yeah. Definitely ready to get moving on. Landlord is selling it, will be torns down to make room for skinny houses.
  22. Moving in the next few weeks, have been keeping my SPS in a 55 and hoping to set up a larger tank in the new place to transfer that to and ditch the 55. Anyone got a solid stand and tank to sell? Prefer 4'x2'x2' 120 but a 90 might also work. I don't have the lighting for a 150 tall. Must be drilled. Would love to find something similar to the one I gave away a few years ago, with a plain modern strong stand. Maybe someone has that in their garage? OK that's not likely... willing to consider larger tanks as well. Not super into the All Glass brand pine slat sided stands, the way they creak and wobble when I wipe the glass kinda scares me Also am not very good at buffing acrylic. Anyone got a tank in storage they want to ditch?
  23. I can't really see texted photos on my phone, if this is still available could you email them to electrokate1@gmail.com?
  24. can you post or send me a photo of the whole setup if it is still available including the stand and canopy? Looking to see if the furniture will be ok in my new place. electrokate1@gmail.com is my email
  25. I have a reef safe parrot you can have. Maybe after a meeting at your place you will find it behind the couch. SURPRISE!
