For some reason, this model skimmer "SWC Xtreme 180 cone skimmer" doesn't show up on any official sites other than forums. Is it an older discontinued model? 

 Yep, looks like SWC does not sell it any more and they only have the smaller 120 and larger 230. Oddly enough I cant find the 160 cone either, which was a very popular skimmer for quite some time. I found a couple sites that still sell them new in stock, but not direct from SWC. The 180 was just a larger version of that (bigger collection cup and slightly larger cone if I recall correctly). There are a few people around here running SWC skimmers still. I really enjoyed it, I was just due for a new reef toy and talked myself into the Vertex. After running the Vertex for a little while now, I think the DC pump is the only major upgrade. I had that SWC dialed in pretty well, and I am still fiddling with the Vertex. 

A couple of skimmer pics. Forgot to mention it has a diy neck cleaner on there that works great, easy enough to remove though if you didnt want it on there. 

Both mp40's sold. Open to offers on the skimmer! I can probably deliver down as far south as Eugene if anyone is interested, I have a work trip coming up down there within the next couple of weeks. 

I would buy one of the mp40s if you can find a buyer for the other.

I have two working Ecotech mp40s for sale. $325 for BOTH. I don't want to sell individually unless there are buyers lined up for both. 

One is a mp40w gen 2 (white controller), serial 40wg209061363 - I assume the mfg date is in that serial number, just not sure if they do year, month, or day first. 

The other is a mp40wES - mfg date May 27 2010. 

I have owned both for a couple years now, and have ran them for about half of that time. Both work fine, I am happy to throw them on my tank and let ya see them work if you want. 

Next up is a SWC Xtreme 180 cone skimmer. $165

Great skimmer, worked well for me for a few years. It has the Atman pump, which requires blowing in it upon startup to get it going, because of the needlewheel impeller (which is included). Manufacturer states its good for 150-250 gallons. I ran it on a roughly 160 gal setup (total volume) and it worked like a charm, also had it on a much smaller system (roughly 80 gal) and it worked great too. 

Figured I would try these locally before listing them up and hassling with shipping. 

If you get a chance post up a pic. I may be interested.

I have ran black sand for a few years now and really like it. I'd recommend it if you were on the fence, and if ya ever want to see it in person hit me up and you can check mine out.

The RW15. They arent as fancy, quiet, or nice, but they are definitely getting the job done and I want to use that mp40 money elsewhere on the tank.

I have had them for a couple years now, but have only maybe used them for 1 year of that.

Dang. Now I am going to have to sell both of my used ones for $300. Lame! haha

Despite an alk swing during vaca, I've had quite a few new heads pop up (and probably noticed a few I hadn't seen last month). I also had one head that grew into three. I counted 21 heads (counted 5 times to make sure). It's also grown off the frag plug most of the way around and the area it hasn't is where I had the most new heads pop up, so it should be fully off the plug soon.

 

 

Wow! 9 heads in one month! I need to start doing whatever you are doing, that's crazy growth. Well done.

Yes, he does nip at corals, that's why he got the boot. He's never really been a bully just minds his own business. As far as corals we have a little bit of everything.

Ah alright. Well good luck with the sale/trade, if I had a fish only system I would be all over it. Awesome looking fish. 

Any issues with the flame nipping corals or being a bully? What type of corals are you into?
