  1. I've had the yellow coris species before, they're great little fish.
  2. At the meeting I was offered a nano tank and stand, just have to drive to Corvalis to pick it up. Now I only I could remember her/your name! (whistle)
  3. Thanks Roy for hosting, it was fun! And it makes it harder to keep my "no reef tank till I have a house" resolution.
  4. Would anyone going to the meeting tomorrow have some spirulina flakes they could spare? I only need a little bit, like 1/4 of a cup. I have some small ( under 3/4") FW fish that are omnivores and I hate to buy a package that'll go bad long before I even use a 1/3rd of it. I'd be happy to fork over a dollar for it.
  5. Yeah, I saw the half pipe, holy crap that kid is amazing. I loved the way his coach was going "Do IT! Do IT!" when it came to his second run and whether or not they were going to do the McTwisty thing. It was like little kids at Christmas
  6. Cabin fever? Maybe go for a long walk, it's a nice day outside, at least it is here in Portland.
  7. I'm not setting anything up saltwater here ( and my lease isn't up till August ). Any tank over 20 gallons requires a pet deposit: $350. I have yet to see them refund one. So, I'm going to hold onto my money and wait till I'm in a situation where I can purchase my own home. Once I can have a fish room, then I'll start plotting world domination with trained mantis shrimp planning out saltwater tanks.
  8. Well so far, nothing. I would eventually like to do a small tank with Golden Dwarf Moray. I had one before, unfortunately the lid wasn't secure enough and I wound up with carpet jerky :(
  9. Stopped by Saltwater Fantasea's yesterday to check out the store, and saw the new Koralia Nanos. Talk about tiny! Does anyone here have any experience with them? Also saw the new prop pump with 2 heads side-by-side. That was new to me.
  10. I used 2 of the original Koralia 2 with a Taam controller, and never noticed any chattering. They worked just fine for me.
  11. Nevermind... I keep forgetting about Craig's list
  12. I think that's one of Blake's, more well known for his "Tiger, Tiger burning bright" poem. I liked the variant of that one done in the 80s for Spiderman. It's funny, I took a quiz and Neitzcheism is pretty close to the opposite of my own philosophical inclinations, but I do so love his quotes: -A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything. -Convictions are more dangerous foes of truth than lies. -Extreme positions are not succeeded by moderate ones, but by contrary extreme positions. -In every real man a child is hidden that wants to play. -In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule. -It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages. -No one lies so boldly as the man who is indignant. -Plato was a bore. -Sleeping is no mean art: for its sake one must stay awake all day. -Talking much about oneself can also be a means to conceal oneself. (my personal favorite) -The best weapon against an enemy is another enemy. -The most common lie is that which one lies to himself; lying to others is relatively an exception. Here's one that a lot of politicians need to have tattooed onto their eyelids: -There are horrible people who, instead of solving a problem, tangle it up and make it harder to solve for anyone who wants to deal with it. Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all. -There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness. -We often refuse to accept an idea merely because the tone of voice in which it has been expressed is unsympathetic to us. -What does not destroy me, makes me stronger -Without music, life would be a mistake. -You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist.
  13. Well, it's not local but the City of Springfield has a position for $4700 to $5700 a month for a Network Admin. At the worst, you might find you don't qualify for it, at best, that's a nice chunk of change. http://springfieldjobs.projecta.com/EmploymentResponse.asp?Internal=False&JobID=240&SectionID=10
  14. I might have been in Eugene yesterday and picked up a boat load of stuff for the freshwater planted tank I'm planning...
  15. for me to stick to my "no reeftank till I have a house to put it in" resolution.
  16. I have renters insurance, it's just that if I went over 20gallons they'd require another pet deposit: $350 non-refundable. I have better uses for $350. I'd like a 15tall because I have a 10g stand already and my 96quad PC lights will fit nicely on it. I'm looking for a small tank for my bedroom. With the 2 dogs we have ( a Boxer/Sharpei & German Shepphard/"something with a fat head" - per the vet ) I can't let my cats out of the room. :| So I was thinking a small planted tank to help keep them entertained. Both of my cats have watched aquariums before. I figure a planted tank would also be quieter.
  17. With the rules in my apartment about tanks ( anything over 20 gallons is classed as a pet, and you're limited to 2, and we've already got one dispensation because we have 2 dogs and 2 cats ) I'm not going for a reef tank. I'm looking for a 15g tall style aquarium, I'm going to do a FW planted tank. I need one that hasn't been used with copper because I'm going to get FW shrimp in it. Have to scratch my invert itch somehow.
  18. I'm going to see if I can make it to this meeting. Been a long time since I've been able to go.
  19. I'm in Portland now ( Wilsonville actually ) still looking for work. Took down an my tanks and had a firesale on all my LR. Sadly I don't have room to set one up here. After I find a job, and we move to a bigger place, I'd like to get a 30g up and get LR from TB Saltwater, I'd like to do a Gulf biotope tank.
  20. Wow, sorry to hear this man. Hope things are going well in SLC
  21. I'm going to take a break for a bit from reefkeeping, as the time and space demands don't really mesh with my new apartment. I would though like to have a small FW planted tank her, and I've got a likely spot picked out. Does anyone know of a good store here for FW plants? Eugene has Liquid Sunshine, the owner is fanatical about FW planted set ups, but I don't know the Portland area well enough to know of any stores. Thanks all!
