  1. Welcome to PNWMAS! So wheres your tank info?
  2. depending on the type of xenia, try to cut as close to the base as possible. Most types will grow back with even the slightest bit left behind. How to attach it to something is up to you. I have tried superglue, but it didnt work. the best way Ive found is to rubber band the base to a piece of rubble. After a week or so, it should attach on its own. Just be sure the band isnt too tight. The other option is to leave it free floating in a rubble tank or sump with adequate light, and let it attach itself . Just my experience, so I hope someone else has a different idea...
  3. Ive got a little giant pump for sale that puts out just over 1000gph.Let me know if youre interested. And it is external...
  4. Nice set-up lundy. I really like the aquascape in that small a tank!
  5. the sump designs melev has are awesome. he has a lot of good ideas for configurations. just find what works for you. as far as glass or acrylic, i would go with glass. most glass shops will cut what you want fairly cheap, and its easier to silicone glass than acrylic to an existing glass tank
  6. sounds like the low ph from the reactor is getting into your tank. try tuning downthe co2 and see what happens
  7. That is too hilarious.......(laugh) And familiar(plotting)
  8. Go ahead and post the link. Ive seen links to rc and others and I would like to see the build thread:D. Nice tank. How hard is it to keep it balanced?
  9. Wow. Kickin' set-up. Looks fantastic. Keep it up, and keep the pics coming...
  10. Thanks for the compliments. siskiou:It is 20x20x20, so about 34 gallons total.
  11. Thought Ide share my newest toy. While trying to decide on an all-in-one tank, I ran across these in multiple forums. Heard a lot about these systems, good and bad, and thought I would see for myself. Picked it up at Coral Reef Pet Center in Salem(Thanks Jay!) and must say I have no complaints. I did do some minor mods in turning the second chamber into a fuge and adding my own ato instead of the stock(one of the biggest issues) up-side down water bottles. Most of the inhabitants came from my daughters 20h, and the rest from CRPC and my other set-up. Heres the back while I was setting it up to my liking. The 5gal in the stand holds my diy kalk reactor and is my container for ato. I have to fill it 1-2x per week. During transition with my favorite helper. Notice the Bob the Builder goggles, a must when working with aquariums...(laugh)OrOSHA would be proud! And heres what it looks like now... Any and all questions/comments are welcome. Thanks for looking, and for the info ive picked up from all your posts...that made this happen(rock2)

  17. it sounds like reefgeek and i have had a similar upbringing. throughout my childhood, i knew that there were loaded guns in the house. most of them were in my dads room, fully loaded, and at our disposal, but completely safe. my siblings and i had a certain respect for firearms. even when friends came over and saw them on the wall, we KNEW not to mess with them. a respect for guns was bestowed on us at a very young age and has carried on throughout our lives. GUNS KILL PEOPLE! even now i am wary about keeping arms in the house with children, as i have two of my own. fortunately, i have the ability to spend time with my children and the ability to put the same information and fear in their minds as my father did me. unfortunately, there are families that are not as fortunate and cannot or will not teach their children about the danger and concequences of firearms. the sad part is, its not usually the fortunate ones who shoot at churches, schools, malls, etc.. it is the ones who are not informed and educated. i dont really have a point, i guess, because i know both sides have legitimate reasons for what they believe. i will however continue to teach my children about what i have learned, and conceal my pistol in public places to keep MY family safe. i know there are a lot of crazy people out there and intend to do whatever possible to protect myself and the people close to me.
  18. pics, dimentions or description of the sump?, please..
  19. depending on your setup, you may be able to use a maxi-jet 1200. how many gallons are you looking to run through it?
  20. ive read on reef central about the tunze nano, and have found thet most people had problems getting the water level right and issues with micro bubbles. maybe just operator error? thanks roger. ill have to come check that out. have you run one yet? how did it do?
  21. hey ryan, hows that tunze for noise? are they really as hard to set up as ive heard ?
