  1. Ya, I always hated over moderation, but then again all should act like adults and refrain from personal attacks. I dont really see that but then again, I dont usually take things on a message board that darn seriously. Most the time it spirals downhill when things start to get on a personal level.
  2. Looks great, hope mine does even half that good.
  3. ya, its not all that cheap. Im on well water so I could care less about the water that goes down the drain.
  4. no, thats not it. http://www.superiorwatersupplies.com/site/1252473/product/ZWKIT Thats just one I searched for real quick, I'm sure there are others to be had for less money.
  5. If you guys are really concerned with the waste water, get a zero waste kit for your RO.
  6. They arent all 6-1. Kinetico units are 3-1. As for ruining the membrane, that Kinetico using waste at 3-1 has been in for 12 yrs and still makes 5 tds water vs my brand new cheapo that makes 7tds. BTW, there is absolutely no setup for Kinetico, but then again its quite a bit more money and quite a bit better quality unit.
  7. It really should only be 3 gallons waste to 1 gallon made. You can also get zero waste kits. 20 to 1 is rather excessive.
  8. I voted, but I guess it doesnt mean much. LOL Maybe that should be added to the list of "Benifits of Membership"
  9. I've sold both high end (Kinetico RO's) and now low end, really not much of a difference in the water it puts out. Its more so how the unit is designed and how replacement filters are handled. (There is a few differences in how it operates, but really doesnt make a difference IMO) Personally, stick with the cheapies, its what I use and works perfect. (0tds) My DI cartridge is an unpacked design, but its also an upflow thru the filter. 7tds in, 0tds out. Works just fine. RO is 375 TDS in, 7TDS out.
  10. stand here and type on forums and get paid to do so. LOL
  11. Ya, I've read of that too, and its sugar though Ive read about. like oldbrownies said, you can cause more harm though than your helping if you overdose. Ill stick to better skimming and feeding a tad less.
  12. UV alters the dna of the bacteria so it cant reproduce. It may effect other things differently, but as for bacteria is just makes it so it cannot make more of it self. (sterile) For parisites and other things, I dont know how it effects it. As for chemicals in the water, I wouldnt think it would do much to that. Then again, Ive never researched it since I dont treat coral spew for drinking water. LOL Id prob agree moreso with reef on this, if I were to use one on my system it would only be used if I had some sort of issue with sick fish, otherwise Id leave it off. I dont believe UV will effect organics, I think your thinking of ozone.
  13. ya, I didnt notice either (since mines a 24" Dell :P ) till I got to work on my laptop and saw what everyone was talking bout.
  14. Looks like a good upgrade for my Moms tank.
  15. Some ppl just need a little help. http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/1081LoveBoat.wmv
  16. If I do my new tank I plan to run a small pump in both tanks at the same volume to have the water basically seem to be the same system. No shock that way and just switch everything after a few days of running that way. (They will be fairly close so its no big deal) If you age the water then switch, I would think youd still need to let the corals adjust to even the small differences that arent just ph/alk/ca etc etc. Heck, just doing a waterchange with the basic same tested values makes my skimmer act totally different so Im sure a whole tank thats new water, no matter if its a week old will still be somewhat different. At least thats my stupid theory of it. lol
  17. By purchasing and growing/selling aquacultured corals and fish doesnt help with conservation?
  18. I always liked the Sailfin. Mine had an awesome personality to him.
  19. I just tested it at home. (Posted at work) and seems to work here too, maybe it was down for a few.

  21. I know, but I had some algea issues with the Oceanic that magically went away when I switched. Otherwise Id prob still use Oceanic. That and Im getting some magflake in a 50# bag so its not that expensive that route.
  22. Ive been using Oceanic, but I'm switching to Coralife and just dose Mag to adjust the mag lvl in it. The rest of the lvls look real good. Oceanic is high in CA and MG but low in ALK, actually real low.
  23. These guys have pretty good prices on Salifert and the few on RC seem to say they are fine to order from. http://www.everythingreef.com/
