  1. LOL!! My father-in-law does that!! He's bought his wife a tractor, tons of guns, cars, etc. That is a pretty good idea Ron(plotting) .....I just might try that. If it dosent work however, might you have a couch I can crash on for a while???(wife) (scary) Dennis
  2. Umm....YA!! For Sure I would love to have it. It's the stand and canopy and sump and all the other goodies I would need to go with it that make it cost prohibitive for me. Heck...I even have the PERFECT spot for it. Right where my little 120gal is now. Oh well....(sad) Dennis
  3. we prefer to pronounce it Tar-shae.(naughty) Dennis
  4. Ken...who is the manf of the tank? Dennis
  5. Duh! I should have know that...we talked before DOH! . I think the evaporation from that bigger tank would drown my little kenmore dehumidifier. EVER so tempting at that price but.....I think I would be buried in it if I even MENTIONED it to the wife.(scary)! Oh well..good luck with the sale. Dennis
  6. Now, Now.....We recently got a Starbucks...We be UPTOWN now!!!!!(rock2) Dennis

Cool! Buy yourself $300 worth of lock-tite super glue gel. Best super glue for coral IMO. Dennis
  13. Well, I would personally spend the extra 80-90 bucks because, Im not into DIY projects. Im not very good at them and dont really have the time. But, if I was good at DIY projects and could make something that looks good and not "jerry rigged", I might try it. My old tank was a pre-made, $15 float switch and a small maxijet in a 5gal container of water (which I mixed kalkwasser powder into). It worked pretty good until the float switch got stuck and dumped about 3gal of saturated kalk water into my tank. What a mess!!! On my current tank, I use the aquamedic setup and it draws water from a 5gal container, thru a PM kalk reactor and then into the sump. It runs slower than a maxijet so it would take a little longer to dump 3gal of water into the sump. Not that it couldnt do it....it would just take longer. Dennis
  14. I think Woody at Seahorse pushes those things. From what Ive heard (never used myself) they dont work very good. Any movement from current or anything and dissolve REALLY fast. They might have their place but, not in my tank. Dennis
  15. I have this top off system running on my 125g tank. It works really good. Keeps the water level in the sump dead on. The only think I dont really care for about it is that it sometimes makes a noise when it turns on. Not sure why but from what I read and what AM said, it's normal. It works well and looks decent also. R-3, your are correct, I saw one there this past weekend. Didnt look at the price. Dennis
  16. CCR, I mean the physical size of the pump. Dennis
  17. I just recently got a stream 6000 with a single controller. The flow it produces is great. On my 125gal, 4' tank however, the thing is HUGE!! If I had it to do again, I dont think I would put a stream on anything less than say, a 180 gal. The vortechs are nice but, not as controllable as the tunze is (from what I read). The "stream" of water comming out of the stream pump is also wider less concentrated than the "stream" from the vortcech. The vortech however would appear to definitly work better in a smaller tank than the gargantuan stream pump. Dennis
  18. Living in the Troutdale area myself, I find it kind of strange that the east wind can blow 70mph for days and there is absolutly no damage. But, if we get a 30mph gust from a different direction, trees, powerlines, etc are falling all over the place. Dennis
  19. In my opinion, the symptoms are definitly related to light shock. The corals need a proper acclimation to the new lighting. I would use the plastic window screening from lowes or home depot. Just put like 3-4 pieces on top of each other and every 5-6 days, remove a piece of the window screen. This slow acclimation will allow the damage done to heal and hopefully you wont lose anymore coral. HTH's Dennis
  20. Ron, that is an excellent idea. Not sure if it would work in a 24" wide tank but...like you said, it beats breaking all the tank down! I like the hiding behind the couch smiley. It is very befitting. Dennis
  21. I think it's a case of zoanthelle swaping. Do a search on ReefCentral and I think you will find some info. It is definitly documented...just gotta find it. Very cool pics!! Dennis
  22. Working in a pharmacy and all, I was thinking, wouldn't it be nice to have a "medicated" food that once eaten, allows the fish to kinda, drift off into a peaceful slumber? Then wake up after 30 minutes or so without any ill effects. Hmm.....kinda like a tranquilizer. Dennis
  23. No..I havent tried the little hooks yet. I went to GI joes before looking for small enough hooks but couldnt find any. I cant remember but I think size 14 was the smallest. It was still too big for a damsal. Hmm....drain the tank to 1". Thats a good idea but, I could still see them wedging themselves in the rock work somewhere. Then I have the other fish, including a powder blue (From you Joel!) that is very prized due to the looooonnnngggg and ROUGH acclimation it went thru. Dennis
