1. I will try to post some pics. Basement sump could be placed under the tank in cabinet.
2. Glass Cages built it and they made it exactly to my specs, including the internal linear overflow. 1/2 inch Starfire type glass with euro braced open top. They also euro brace the bottom for more surface to glue to.
3. Large Reef Brandon, I have a reef tank that I may be selling. I am moving and the new house does not have a great place for a tank. It is about 250 gal 68X36X25, starfire glass viewable from 3 sides. Top af the line equipment, including... H&S skimmer H&S calcium reactor Vortec pumps w/ battery backup Barracuda return pump Solaris LED lights w/ MH Frag tank in system Zeovit reactor WaveySea Much much more. Let me know if you are interested in taking a look...located East of Portland in Fairview. Ken
4. Does anyone in the Portland area have the new firmware for the generation 2 MP40? A person can load the newer firmware by placing an old version next to the new 2.2 version. It would save me having to send the unit back to the factory. Thanks, Ken
5. Is that a 1 1/2 inch hole or bulkhead? If it is a hole, can you get an 1" bulkhead to fit? If a 1" fits, then go with two Durso with 1 1/4" pipe in the overflow. Ken
6. I know the water will seek it's own level, but the question is...will there be friction/ back pressure on the system which would prevent it from draining the 1,000+gph return pump? OR, would it drain like a direct discharge standard sump? Thanks, Ken
7. I have a 250 gal tank with the sump in the basement. Bought a new house and want to set up the tank in the lower floor (not looking forward to that move). I have grown fond of the sump not under the tank..more room to work on things and makes the display room quieter. There is a storage room about 6 feet from the tank, and I have access under the floor. Has anyone used or seen a lateral display/ sump? The drain would go through the floor, under the floor laterally about 6 feet, up through the floor in the storage room, and into a sump placed on the floor. Any comments? Thanks, Ken
8. Sam, I am thinking of starting Zeovit soon on my 250 gal tank. I have no idea what my K+ levels are, so I do not know how much K strong to order with the rest of the basic 4. Did you get the K test kit, and if you did, can I borrow to make one test before I place my order? Thanks, Ken
9. When I changed tanks I went from 30" wide to 36" and really like the extra width and the options it gives your rock work in an peninsula tank. With the 30" my rock looked like a big loaf in the middle of the tank, but at 36" you are able to create islands and valleys. Ken
10. Thanks. Where did you get your reactor? What would you recommend? Ken
11. I have been reading up on this system and thinking of giving it a try. Anyone local have any experience with it and any thoughts. Thanks, Ken
12. You may have some frags that I would be interested in , and I have some woodworking equipment, so this may work. We need to discuss your design. If you want to make the box the structure, then you will need either a front or back for strength. If you need both open we can make out of 2X4 and then skin, but that will take away from room inside, or make the OD larger. Let me know if you wanat to come over and see the stands I made for my 250 and 100 gal sump. Ken
13. I need ceiling repair in my basement over my sump and equipment. Would be great to have someone who would be careful with the project. Can you come by and take a look? We can discuss equipment or $$. PM me and I will call. I am in Fairview. Ken
14. We had a great time, but did not win anything. They did talk about the Farmers Market, and had flyers, but did not have any in the raffle. They did have some Steve Tryee frags for auction. I do not know if they sold any tickets, but some were thinking of attending.
15. Had the pleasure of attending the Aquarium Conference in Tri Cities last weekend and thought I would give a report for everyone. Things got started on Friday with a BBQ at Rick and Barbie Berg’s house. There was a presentation on coral fragging after dinner. Everyone was very gracious and made us feel welcome. Rick has a 240g tank upstairs with all the equipment downstairs (a lot of really cool equipment). Everyone was welcome to mill around and check out his setup at his or her leisure. The guest speakers were there and more than willing to answer questions during the evening. There was a tank setup with corals that were to be auctioned Saturday for viewing (tank was moved to the Hotel for the dinner/ auction the next day). Someone arrived rather late with some frags for sale and for the auction. We left around 1AM and there were still several people there. (late night for the organizers) Saturday started with buffet breakfast and then the tank tour. There were 5 tanks and about 20-25 cars winding through the streets. Tank sizes were…160g 150g, 300g, 155g, 400g. Tour ended around noon and we were on our own for lunch before the speakers gave their presentation. First speaker was Sanjay on how to interpret his lighting test results, and then Mike Palette spoke on how to setup a LARGE reef tank (examples were his 1,200g and a 4,000g he helped create). After the lectures we met back at the Hotel for Dinner, silent auction and raffle. They had an amazing amount of items for raffle and who would not want to come home with a few new frags. All in all the Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club did an excellent job of putting the conference together and if they find the energy to do this again I would highly recommend attending. Ken
16. Not much help, but I do have a 90X24X24 peninsula that has never had water in it. My current tank is 68X36X24 peninsula, so if you are up in Portland (Fairview) you are welcome to stop by and get an idea of what you are thinking of creating. Ken
